is there any cheaper time of year to go there? I've suddenly decided I want to go.
got flights for £200 return inc. taxes - she's going in three weeks. there was a sale or summink.

You have to go via Reyjavik but they are dirt cheap
Why not just go via Greenland, South Africa and Kazakhstan, and really rack up those CO2 emissions!

in april which was a really lovely time to go for weather and general spring-like-ness, but i booked the tickets in the january sales. which isn't very helpful. are there any sales soon?

halloween in NYC is crazy! if you're under 26 check STA travel as they have deals/promotions which could be as low as around £199 inc.

cheaper to go October-April, apart from the week before Christmas which is horrifically expensive.
I've found Continental cheapest (to Newark rather JFK), but that was flying out of Glasgow.
There are usually really good (well advertised) BA special offers from time to time, if you're flying out of London.
