Trading Places last night

TheoGB [Edit] [Delete] 17 replies 08:36, 20 February '07

I think this was the first time I'd watched it in about 15 years. Still a decent film but I'd forgotten about

(a) The amount of gratuitous tits on display
(b) The amount of great swearing

Hmm.

I still don't understand how they do it in the ending, though. The stock exchange bear pit will forever be a mystery to me.

  • Something about frozen orange juice I reckon.

Great film. Possibly my favourite Eddie Murphy film (well, top 3) and Don Ameches second best (after Coccoon)

    • Favourite Eddie Murphy film?

Hmm. I don't know. I think I prefer Beverly Hills Cop but I've not seen that in at least as long, so it may be utter rubbish.

        • I'll need longer than that to get to watch Beverly Hills Cop, sorry

          • What? Loser!

I noticed it when I first saw Coming to America.

            :D

but it is a pretty close run thing.

Everything else Eddie Murphy has done has been absolute shit

            • Being a Star Wars fan

I naturally spent the first few minutes of Coming to America thinking "THAT'S what the voice of Darth Vader looks like? He's short and fat?"

But once that had gone away, yes: It is a great movie.

              I like Murphy in Shrek.

              • Eddie Murphy

had a pretty great run in the 80's

is possibly one of the finest comedies of all time. Those fellas in the barber shop are just perfect.

"I did meet Dr Marting Luther the King! I turned a corner and there he was! I said 'Dr King!' and he punched me in the face! Then said 'Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else'"

                • Aren't those fellows all

Arsenio Hall and Eddie Murphy? Or is my memory failing me.

                  • no no, your memory is quite correct

as a young lad i remember being amazed that those 2 people played so many characters, i'd never seen the like of it before.
