I reckon this is likely my favourite anime film. Has anyone else seen it? If so, what did you reckon to it?
But it was one of the first anime films I ever saw and it's been a long while since last viewed so maybe my opinion could be swayed. I guess the dubbing didn't help either.
Blood: The Last Vampire?
It's so good. Short, but amazing.
but shall definitely check it out if I get the chance.
from places that sell it.
Don't expect it to be an epic, but at 40 minutes it's really a perfect length.
Seen about 10 minutes. Don't really like the style of art, so I couldn't get into it.
Anime I am down with however is Macross Plus, Ninja Scroll and I dunno... some other stuff, maybe.
Two definitive anime films, you can't go wrong with those.
but not a patch on akira the manga, which remains one of my favourite works of fiction EVER.
tentacles, rapes, school girls, and a combination of those three, then i'm NOT INTERESTED
used to buy and endless supply of this type of anime second hand from the local Blockbuster.
I didn't live with him for very long...
and no school girls, you'd hate it.
But then what anime doesn't have tentacles?
Watching it with my family, it innocent enough stuff, just celebs talking about their favourite kid cartoons. Or so I thought. All of a sudden in at 75 was Urotsokidoji, featuring scenes of giant penises exploding through skyscrapers and young schoolgirls getting touched up by a demonic headmistress. Oh christ! That wasn't awkward in the least.
Yes, in fact same situation I was sat with my parents...how cringe worthy...
whispered to your dad 'cor its a bit like meatspin.com isn't it love? fancy a cup of tea?'
Where the hell was Johnny Bravo?!
Best mainstream cartoon ever.
Quite high as well, deservedly, it did proper kickass.
was directed like a film.
it nearly made me cry.
k thnx bye.
ps, girls into animé = hot.
i find it completely disrespectful. us animé fans DON'T NEED SOMEONE LIKE YOU IN OUR CLUB.
i love you.
posh accent things. I don't have good computer skillz like you do.
and press e. i'm only telling you cos i love you and i hate seeing the word animé abused in such a way x x x xx
it's so vivid, they inhabit such a well-formed universe. i love it.
SPIKE DIES SPIKE DIES SPIKE DIES
but couldn't get through the whole series, there were too many episodes.
followed by Steamboy.
Preceded by an amazing Japanese animation called Tamala 2010, which had then rarely been shown outside of Japan. It was about a punk cat in space. It was truly awesome and featured a murderous giant Colonel Sanders :D
I remember watching the forgotten fridge episode whilst very strung out and having nightmares for the next week.
I got nightmares from FMP: Fumoffu for christ's sake :'(
It is the most spoiled spoiler in the history of spoilers all throughout geekdom!
i don't read spoilers. i knew SOMETHING happened at the end, but i wasn't sure what.
I don't think I've ever really spoiled for someone before. So this is how it feels. Huh.
If so, Im SOOOOOOOO down with the animé scene.
What? Thought not...
Spirited Away, Whispers Of The Heart, Porco Rosso, all that bollocks, it's all anime. The first one even has tentacles in it.
So now I can tell people I like animé and seem all cool.
Does that cartoon version of the matrix count?
That was grrrrreat
FF7 is my favourite ever game and I thought that film honest to god sucked balls. Lovely animation though, just a shame the character development and plot wasn't up to the same standard. Ahh it's in my collection somewhere, I really should watch it again, once isn't enough.
the plot was crap.
But the action sequences were good, and it was nice to see all the characters with voices.
And yeah, its the best ever game.
Except in the english version, cait sith was scottish. Seriously, why ?
Agreed. It was great as a technical excercise, but the story was complete rubbish on every level. They should have gotten a Hollywood script writer to at least overseen the project to make sure it made sense.
...was the fact that suddenly all the characters could jump really high! What's that about?! The game would have been quarter the length if you had that ability.
I thought that was stupid, agreed. But then you could do that in the game, which some characters' Limit Breaks, etc.
I had more of a problem with them inserting three completely new and pointless characters when there was so much to work with with the original characters that could have been resolved in the film.
So as a result, we get to spend the entire movie watching some big dude with a silver quiff cry for no reason, while integral characters to the story like Barret appear on screen for about 2 minutes in aggregate.
Total missed opportunity.
Then do yourself a favour and watch Grave Of The Fireflies, it even comes prepared with a starving 4 year old girl eating balls of soil, yay!
its really sad
Fopp stopped selling the dvds for about £8 each. Looks like its amazon marketplace for me.
I shall contribute with my favourite shows:
2x2 = Shinobuden
Full Metal Panic?
Full Metal Panic?: Fumoffu!
Age old debate: Sub or Dub? I vote Sub, except for Pokémon because I grew up with it dubbed. I prefer subbed as it feels more like how it was originally intended.
then again dubbed, to fill in the bits that might not have worked so great in writing.
It's a no brainer, dub voices are always awful.
all cartoons dubbed to, in my case, Norwegian are exercises in torture.
Also, Haibane Renmei, Serial Experiments Lain and the Kenshin OAVs are teh bomb.
