Anybody else slightly disappointed with this film? I've just watched it, and it wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be
I thought the characters were a little unconvincing, the dialogue used was, at times, ridiculous and the music for most of the film didn't seem to fit right
We had the exact same thread a few weeks ago.
The characters aren't really meant to be convincing and the whole point of the dialouge is that its totally ridiculous. Its a complete film noir pastiche, and whether you like it or not kinda depends on whether you dig film noir.
I love film noir
and I thought it was mediocre.
SNAP
well, no
not exactly.
i liked it
I liked nora zehetner.
yes
i've said this in many threads, but i didn't like it at all. I agree that the dialogue was just cringeworthy at time, and that's without the terrible acting.
There was some really good lines in it though.
yeah, but i still didn't like it
i dunno, it just seemed a bit stupid. i didn't enjoy it at all, the dialogue was really forced, and they all sounded like they'd just been given the scripts and asked to read them really fast. Plus the 'love interest' giel was REALLY annoying
The third rock from the sun guy was pretty good though :D but i didn't like his annoying sidekick.
girl :(
oh my hands
Does she mean her, or Laura?
Emily didn't seem to be in it enough to justify being annoying. Laura was quite pretty, I thought. Bit of a small face though

i meant that one ^
I love her
she's in heroes too!
maybe i'm just jealous
:)
but i found her character incredibly irritating
Oh yeah!
I thought I recognised him. And I'm not really too much of a movie buff, so if the dialogue was intentionally ridiculous then that went completely over my head
Does this make me stoopid?
Nah.
Its really a film buff kinda film. Which makes it awesome as an exercise in cinematic technique 'n stuff, but if you don't know the films its a pastiche of I can imagine it seeming pretty shit.
maybe that's it
i'm not much of a film noir buff, i just like gory things
I agree
I love a lot of film noir but this film annoyed me like few others last year.
i loved it.
i thought it was hilarious, and i'd put it alongside stuff like Sixteen Candles as teen movies that i'll never get bored of.
it's no Mean Girls.
Mean Girls >>>>>>>>>>> Brick
f'sho :D
i love
the l-lo.
do one
she's fucking ace.
maybe
a pointy face IS cool.
I'll have to think about it.
thought about it.
pointy faces are cool. miss spherical phace.
:'(
i got told i look like her
is my face pointy?
:D

are they calling her li-lo now?
like a plastic mat?
i'm going to cover her in washing up liquid an...
i'm going to
run around with her and hit people on the head while they're sunbathing!
dunno
ask wishpig. I'm just trying to appear cool.
i still haven't seen that.
i'd say it's a bit more knowing than most teen movies and John Hughes affairs, but it's got a great sense of fun and it's very upfront about its pretention.
you're spot on
for someone who hasn't seen it.
oh, piss off, you nobber :D
you weren't talking about Mean Girls?
buy Mean Girls
borrow Heartbreakers.
Still, both worth repeat viewings.
