No threads on either gig last night? yet
it was nice.
AS&AP was nice. team brick was pretty great. brnlvclb suffered from the split crowd in a kind of exponential way - less people = less fun = less people = less fun.
i dont remember these cakelets! why was i not informed?!
and why on earth were u up at that time?!
as was team brick. nervous_testpilot was more of a comedian than anything else, but i enjoyed his set. the walkoff were annoying.
in a coloured costume of my choice
in london last night.
That's the best I've seen them play I think. I got free stuff, which was nice, and soup took a picture of me which I think is probably hideous.
The DJing was actually amazing, particularly when Real Gone Kid came on.
and A Scholar & A Physician, The Walkoff were poor compared to when I've seen them before. The empty room have not have helped.
was miles better than either of them.
on the other hand I did manage to get 3 new songs pretty much finished.
and Hundred Handed and You and the Atom Bomb were both brilliant.
The only bad bit about the evening was that my favourite pair of pants got ruined.
I could have washed and re-worn them then.
bamos said that's the second pair of your pants he's ruined. YOU GUYS
you & the atom bomb are fucking brilliant.
the first band were.. weirdly interestingly nice. and hundred handed were alright but i got a bit bored by the end of the set.
couldn't work out how to use the dj equipment so I'm amazed we managed to play any songs at all.
that you were gonna do last night but you couldn't work the other cd player. did you mean to play the english one instead then?
I thought it was the English one but I hadn't planned to play it. Joe and I just didn't have anything cued up.
I hate it when there are technical glitches.
and then got called a pikey lots. last night was a bad night for clothes, some wanker noticed that i had worn this dress before (i hate you x x x)
I did BOTH. GET IT? I DID BOTH.
Soupy's gig was lots of fun and it was great to see people there I hadn't seen for awhile (Kev Eddy, THeo etc)...
I took a blow up monkey that I wanted to give to FideL but lost at Brainlove Club....... Sadface.
YOU TUBE MARATHON last night tho - I'm a qivering mess over Jeff Buckley..... AGAIN.
I like cakelets.
I like smoking ciggarettes.
I like wine.
I like YouTube.
"ANGEL!! OOH, YEAH YEAH..... OOOH!!"
Oh yeah, Brainloves headling DJ's played a VERY VERY VERY rare late seventies Australian track... by Mi-Sex, called COMPUTER GAMES. I nearly spat my drink out when I heard it... they got the vinyl platter from New York. It brought me straight back to being four years old again (I had fucking good taste back then).
but despite this, i hear that they were both good
what to do last night so i did nothing.
it was nice. :)
You should come to these things more.
There's something odd about watching a band that knows it'll never play together again, it adds a sort of poignancy to thing. Someone with a better grasp of the English language should write about it.
supposed to go to another gig in the good ship as well but i got as far as dalston and realised i was far too tired to be anyway except for home. :(
i was sad to miss the djing.
so wasn't totally into brnlvclb. as&ap were great though and the walk off were probably the best i've seen them (that's good). team brick and nervous_testpilot just aren't my thing
I'm sure we were on the same bus home.
some number (422?) to london bridge at about 1.30?
and yeah you got off around there, ah I should have said hello. I was pretty smashed though so probably for the best.
What did you make of Rowland's DJ set?
I was hammered as well. It was my first hdif and isn't really my thing anyway, but i wasn't really digging the 70s funk. The PA was also well quiet.
quite clearly. I disgraced myself.
What did you do?
team brick was brilliant. i especially liked his bells.
i didn't see the walk off or a scholar and a physician as i was pretending to dj in the other room, but nervous test pilot was amazing! :D so much fun, my whole body was aching by the time his set had finished.
it was nice meeting everyone too. i apologise if i was a bit quiet and didn't really contribute very much to proceedings, but i didn't really have much of any interest to say.
i still haven't slept.
sorry if i was chatting shit at you in water-rats.
how can u not have slept?!
i yawned about 30 times on the tube this afternoon, i was actually sighing before each one eventually.
people looked at me wierd : (
i fell asleep for 1 second.
no, it was fine, it was much more entertaining than pretending to read text messages from people who don't exist!
i wish all people were as lovely as drowned in sound people.
they really are aren't they?
i do that text thing all the time too :D
or anything. hmm. i'm not very good in those kind of situations PLUS that wine that me and alice went halves on was horrible and it took all the energy i had left to try and stop myself from pulling a face all night.
no not at all! i just thought u thought I was a weirdo. i tend to put most things down to that!
i hate most wine. i just realkised i got those beers from stealthy free! <3
brainlove club was wonderful - Pil and Galia playing Strawberry Switchblade at the end made me melt!
Apollys if my compering was gas has well. It was a frabjous night however
I enjoyed your comparing, Prole. You should do it for a living. It was very witty. Nice.
It was funand i got drunk very early on! Everyone was lovely in no particular order!
I have the email you scrunched up and threw into the crowd.
I thought the compering was ace. Yep, it made the night.
asked who you were because he thought you were very funny.
that's to prole.
weren't you sick?
Cheers Tom-did i take youe eye out with a book-i would have stayed later but had to be up early to pack
thanks for reminding me. How embarrasing.
it was an expensive pint too. :(
I really shouldn't drink on an empty stomach. I had a lot...
but its a badgeof honour as well though!
i did sort of slink off and I decided if I didn't see anyone i knew on the way to the door I'd go - sorry-but just know we will meet again and again
how mawkish is that then?
Admitting to liking keane as a 'joke' might backfire however
You and the Atom Bomb were great. Hundred Handed were great when the singer was also playing guitar; less so when he wasn't.
The DJing was generally rubbish. Lots of 'right band, wrong song' moments and there were about 6 minutes where it suddenly became a salsa bar for no reason. "I am the resurrection" was a 'highlight' which is never a good thing.
The dance-off was fucking great, though. :D
As were the biscuits shaped like hands.
And the giveaways.
But not my hangover the next day.
And the company was awesome.
I had fun.
I refer only to the quality of tunes. Clearly there were some technical issues which I accept as being part of a normal night's fun. I do not blame any of the DJs for that stuff.
I didn't know you got stuck on one CD. That sounds nasty...
Tandy don't sell cakes and we all know it.
or take home anything I 'took' from their hand me down boxes - AND on top of that someone heckled me by calling me FATTY
but in a nice way. Like me I think?
Can someone unjumble those words into a sentence?
Kitty boo - how are the 'peds'?
I did both nights, I am a true man of the people.
You and The Atom Bomb were ace...might get their album.
Hundred Handed were very good, but didn't think they had enough killer material to play as long as they did...I'll let them off though as I got a pedal AND a T-Shirt from the hand me down box.
Got to Brainlove's later than I wanted to and only caught Nervous Testpilot - thought he was seriously funny and would've loved the music had I been off my mash on ecstacy pipes.
All in all t'was a great night.
than me or Sophie practically, even though you were coming from Brighton.
I'm being objective, you cowbell playing demon!
I know it was their last gig, but had they played less I think it would've had more impact...i.e. going out on a bang. But hey that's just me....and Joey Mahone.
Still, shame it was their last gig - I liked their sound.
and Prole's comparing was truly brilliant.
"anyone want some black pants? Any My Chenical Romance fans here?"
They hardly played long at all? I thought it was barely 40 mins.
But even though I didn't like all the material it was clearly good enough for them to play that much of it. Yeah.
(if that makes sense?)
I'll fuck you in the face.
I would have fucked you in the ass Saturday. I fuck you in the ass next Wednesday instead. Wooo! You got a date Wednesday, baby!
what's occuring? My memory is woeful.
Well I'm actually going to this:
But really it's just that I watched Big Lebowski on Friday and then went bowling on Sunday and I STILL haven't got the quotes out of my system. :D
I may come along to that. Shame Pocus aren't playing as I wanna see you guys live.
No one wants to put us on, etc. weep. So forth :D
You looked like the happiest girl in the world on that stage bashing that cowbell. Gave me the warm and fuzzies! :)
TUBESCREAMER. No idea what it does, but it looks fun.
I think The Hundred Handed might be the best value band ever. I've seen them three times, and each time got a free album or EP. The album's quite good, 51st State is a top song.
even if it did take me two angry and cold hours to get there. I enjoyed dancing, it's the only night I've ever been to where I've danced to both Jon Secada and the New Pornographers.
I felt for Bobbygeorge's pants.
In the midst of the excitement about Real Gone Kid being played I forgot about the New Pornographers.
to a dark place called school.
watching bobbygeorge dancing to that - I don't think I've ever seen him so happy.
It was a beautiful moment. And Built To Spill! That was ace too.
Miserable Phil and I were loving it.
I'm really quite scared now. I didn't notice anything.
as a 'wedgie'.
That sounds bad.
minutes later I had NONE.
I played the Honeycombs for Miserabli and I almost wept hubris when I saw Bammy gleaming at me when i played Telstar. Touching never to be forgotton or relived moments.
Well done Soupy and 100 Handed for such a good night - I think they bowed out in a graceful and dignified manner worthy of kings.
Did someone say Deacon Blue?
I once had a chat with Tiny from Ultrasound backstage at a gig (look at me, I hang out with Division 8 popstars) and he todl me once he played Telstar to a friend and he was so overcome he fainted - a wonderful wondeful story.
Special mention on Saturday night must go to the other bands as well - I thought bobby Daggler were excellent, and you and the thingy bomb were good too but I was too busy talking about myself in someone's ear to fully appreciate them - sozlol
The Luminaire was a lot of fun, and You and the Atom Bomb were absolutely brilliant. I think I would have enjoyed HH a bit more if I'd seen them before, but I guess a bit of indulgence can be forgiven at a last ever gig.
I was actually in pain from laughing at Prole's compereing. And I'd like to state for the record that it wasn't me that yelled "fuck off" at him.
I think we got to the Water Rats a bit too late, and it would have been more fun with more people, like Alcxxk said. I liked the last guy though. Nervous_testpilot? and the YouTube party was the perfect end to the night
I feel bad not ever having attended a Brainers night yet, but they always clash with things I have a heavy admin involvement in - we should have some sort of DiS Outlook calendar.
