What an awful film. I cannot believe I stayed in to watch this. Utterly soulless and devoid of any meaning. The dialogue even if deliberately so) was an appalling waste of time.

The best bit was when Sister Ray came on at the end

  • i heard it was awesome

If youre gonna talk to me about pointless films, the NOBODY GO AND SEE "THEM" (translated from "Ils")
Its absolutely shite. Its an hour and a half long suspense-chase through every cliche ever (spooky isolated houes, next to spooky woods, with spooky noises, and "twist" at the end). You leave thinking that everything that happened had no point.

i agree, wholeheartedly with this opinion

Apart from, The Pin was the best bit. Innit.

    • Well.....

As I said I didn't like the dialogue. It was written in a vernacular that wasn't immediately understandable, which of course takes away from the plot, which was very good.

Some of the filming and shots were sub-Aronofsky pap, and it was just a bit tediousl and studiously 'hip'.

      • nah.

Its about juxtaposing a film noir dialouge & plot with a high school setting, making much of the film seem incongruous.

I think it works really well as an exercise in cinematic technique and pastiche but is ultimatley meaningless.

        • ^^ you two know too much about film

          • I loved this film

i liked how the dialogue made it like a high school gangster movie.

but what do i know i'm currently watching Time Bandits

    • I loved it

I thought the idea of transposing traditional film noir to a high school setting was genius. One of the coolest films I've seen in a while.

    • i liked it,

mainly because the girl in it was tres pretty.

      • I maintain after a good night's sleep

that it was awful and the biggest waste of £3.50 since...

      • Oh yeah - that girl was gorgeous

Forgotten her name but she was pretty much the cutest girl I've seen in a film ever.

    • I thought it was alright.

      pretty good.

    • it wasn't all it was cracked up to be

i was a little disappointed with it.

I watched Little Miss Sunshine last night. That's really good.

I started A Scanner Darkly as well, but I was too pissed and fell asleep.

    • 'Brick' Brick'

      'I love my brick'

      creakyknees | 4 Feb '07, 14:47 | X
      • It was ok, but it would have worked better

if they had made it really pitch-black instead of noirish. If pretty much everyone was killed for example, that would also explain why there were, LIKE ONLY THREE STUDENTS at the bloody school. Which. Annoyed me. A lot.

        suimasen @creakyknees | 4 Feb '07, 14:55 | X
        • exactly

all those lockers for three people.

The whole premise was so fucking stupid. I can't stop getting annoyed about it.

          devonmalcolm @suimasen | 4 Feb '07, 15:14 | X
          • But all that is part of the noir aesthetic

the silly dialouge, the ridiculous plots, the total lack of any realism.

I just think its really fun tribute to a film genre I love, in the same way I love Blaxploitation, mainly because its totally absurd.
