I just wanted to let everyone know that I have, by mutual decision, left Drowned in Sound as Editor.
I am taking a lengthy sabbatical and have some really exciting things lined up for this year, starting with some bits in The Guardian and elsewhere on the web.
To say I've enjoyed my two year tenure at DiS would be an understatement. In my time as editor, I'm proud to have introduced popular features such as our award-winning podcast, the DiScover features and sub-site and lots of other little bits that probably only I care about.
I've also been able to watch and aid the growth of some of my favourite artists; Guillemots being a particular case of love. As well as promoting shows, writing articles and meeting some fantastic people, I've learned a lot and made some very special friends.
I leave the post as DiS enters some reorganisation. Luckily for all of you, arguably finest writer in the country today (in my honest opinion) and someone I count amongst my very best of best friends, Mike Diver will still be content editor, as well as the staff of writers and contributors that he and I have grown and nurtured over our period of working very closely on the site.
Needless to say, the message boards have always been a source of entertainment, amusement and baldness for me and I shall be around every now and again, but clearly nowhere near as much as before. I have some travelling to do, some people to meet and a new path in the workplace to follow.
In a funny way, you've all been very special to me and in a less funny way, you haven't.
