if anything is too serious to be joked about or is there humor in everything?
I'll go first: war
like rape and the disabled
that in public (not on the internet) to people you didn't know
It would depend on whether or not I knew them well enough / got the feeling that they would understand that making these kind of jokes had no bearing on any real opinion, but just uses controversial / distasteful subject matter as a device.
no one thought it was funny
is plenty of stuff I wouldn't joke about, but then I can be kind of old fashioned. There are subjects that are very close to home for some people and I find myself thinking about them rather than whether what was said was funny. That can be a double-edged sword though, as obviously people are affected by different events and so everything pretty much has the chance of offending someone
but you need to gauge your audience carefully
Within the right company.
within the company of strangers/people you don't know too well you'd hold back, right?
just doing some writing
Sometimes I get carried away, and there's a joke opportunity that I consider too good to miss.
because i'm scared i'll really offend people, but given the right company, i'll say anything. ha!
if you don't know these people you'll definatly hold back?
you can nearly tell beforehand *maybe* what they'll be able to take or not. i'd say late teens - 30s are good to go on the whole for sick jokes.
like hell i do.
i alway sbring out your jokes if someone needs a slap in the soul...
are the ultimate taboo
you saying the word normally except the "UUUUUUUUU" bit which turned into an operatic high pitched ladies screech of concern. I did a small lol.
when pronouncing such words to show how much we value our Transatlantically ignored Us
seems to be the majority answer
there are a million situations, atmospheres, permutations that "the company are strangers" could involve.
where they expect to laugh but at the same time want you to fail
DO YOU JOKE IN THIS SITUATION?
in which case i would say you're bound to offend someone in the audience, but that shouldn't stop you from joking about a particular subject
i mean listen to bill hicks pretending to be a satanic goat man raping a young girl. it's disturbing if you think about it but with the context and delivery it totally works and isn't offensive because the audience are get that it's comedy and not badness.
