I think in terms of good, timeless comedy writing, there are very few really excellent mainstream comedies of the last 20 years that 'cool kidz' can say they like.

I lost my brolly at a family 'do' on Saturday - and it survived ON THE ROCKS!
well not actually cry. but i still get upset when i think about the episode when he thinks he's getting a surprise retirement party but actually the lights in the hall really are broken....
i mean that just hurts my heart.
but then that's good writing i spose.
the first one had a terribly sad sub plot surrounding a blind man who thought junk mail was letters from his son - heartbreaking 'twist' as well
The 'side-splitting' one involved a mix up with the words 'catering' and 'Kettering' and "Don't forget to bring the bill" being misheard as bringing along a tape of the famous 'police show'.
Well it was funny when I was a teenager.
It's utter rubbish.
