The Nintendo Wii

TheShapeOfPunkToCome [Edit] [Delete] 23 replies 20:14, 21 January '07

I managed to get one last Saturday, so far i'm very impressed by the little thing, its ace.

Anyway the reason I'm posting this is to ask if anybody has their console online yet?

  • Nope. Mine's at my Dad's with no internet...

I'm going up in a second to play Zelda.

I'll hopefully have it online next week.

    • yeah i put mine online as soon as i got it

it's pretty poor so far for online - the opera browser is ok, weather channel is nice but pointless, the other things i can't think of. hope nintendo get their fingers out their arseholes and make it fully online. i wanna play smash bros against the world!

  • what if

you haven't got wireless, is there a way you can hook it up the net with a modem?

i would look into this myself, but that would mean looking through more than one website and i am too busy playing zelda..

    • there'll be some sort of cable

i hear. or maybe it's been released already...anyway that's the way you connect to it if you don't have wireless. but you should get wireless, it's nice and easy.

    • i just had a 24 hour wii marathon

      we had WiiSports and WiiPlay.
my friends are addicted to the bowling, but it bored me.
duck hunt (which sounds a bit like Da Cunt if you slur it) is brilliant. air hockey is great too.

all seems a bit novelty maybe tho.

    • Mr Pinkstars STILL hasn't got his.

It's starting to get to me now.
I also failed to find him a Wiimote today for his birthday. Gah.

      • Mines online....

....is it time to start swapping Wii numbers?!

My Opera is very very tempramental. As is online connectivity in general, which annoys me. I have a wireless network and the Wii is literally next to the router, so it shouldn't be struggling.

The Novelty Question - Play Zelda, tell me it doesn't feel like the perfect way to play proper games. You won't be able too unless you resort to lying. It is immense.

WarioWare is also amazing, get it, play Star Nose, drink vodka, lose hours of your life.

        • Those games...

...are the novelty factor, trying to do something new with a new control interface (pushes glasses up nose).

But actually play THOSE games, and tell me your imagination doesn't run wild at what 'proper' games can do with that control system. Unless every developer making games for the Wii is an unimaginative idiot, then in time the games will be AMAZING.

          So there.

          • nope

the single player is fun, its one of those rare games where beating each others high scores (or your own) is actually fun. The darts mini-game is INSPIRED. Darts! On your Wii! Controlled only by aiming and 'throwing' the remote at the telly! Brilliant!

            • *by nope...

...i meant in reference to 'is it only good for parties. It is worth getting. Definately.

And tips for the village in a no-spoiler but hopefully brain-engaging kind of way:

              LINK
              HAWK
              CAT
              MONKEY
              FISH

              and that is all :)

          • I completed Zelda the weekend before last

it took me 41 hours. I may go back at some stage to get every Poe. Wario Ware is fun to some extent single player, but I can't wait to actually get someone to come over and play it. Darts multiplayer is marvelous, even on my own.

          • The majority of games developers are unimaginative idiots

            fortunately Nintendo aren't.

            • .

Ok, maybe I should turn this thread into a "Wii Friends code" one.

Send me a message with yours if you want mine?

              Deal?

              TheShapeOfPunkToCome @benrith | 23 Jan '07, 16:40 | X
              • I will do soon.

Also, DS friend codes... PM me please :)

I need to play new people at Mario Kart.

                TheWildSon @TheShapeOfPunkToCome | 23 Jan '07, 16:41 | X
        • Mr Pinkstars' arrived today.

          Yay!

          fionapinkstars | 23 Jan '07, 16:43 | X
          • Any other games except for Wii Sports?
