This has tickled me
Thinking back to bad Arsenal signings in my lifetime, I'd have to say that Nelson Vivas is up there
playing them tomorrow. Which means both he and Akinbiyi will be on the scoresheet, no doubt
with the million pound deal for Traore for me. Ridiculous.
wouldn't mind Djemba-Djemba, but Traore is a right sack of shite.
Worst signing ever is Zenden, he has been absolute crap no matter who he has played for
think you'll find that Frank Sidebottom was runner-up...
or, indeed, just footballing
Harry cuntface Redknapp has a history of getting the best out of shit but admittedly experienced players. Who would have had Kanu down to be up there with the top scorers this season?
worst player I have ever seen at Arsenal.
some vile ones.
Mikkel Beck, Ravanelli, Pierre Ducrocq, Francois Grenet, Con Blatsis, Bjorn Otto Bragstad... basically the entire team that went down... but the stand out worst player I have ever seen play a game of football wasn't a ram.
Can't believe someone pay for him..
anyway, who was that lad Harry Redknapp signed cause he thought he was George Weah's brother or something? thats a fun story.
never want to hear that name again. Any Wolves fans watching, take note; that is what Graeme Souness can do for you
Judge B knows all about him. Great player :)
he signed 'Ali Daei'
He wasn't weah's cousin.
Came on as sub, got subbed 5 mins later when they realised who he was.
Ali Daei is a different player, who used to play and score for Bayern Munich and was alright. World record cap holder, played for Iran for 13 years. Totally different kettle of fish!
he was dire
Wound up signing for a shit Danish team, but couldn't get into the team, then retired after he failed to secure a contract whilst on trial at Grimsby, amongst others.
Chris Kiwomya may well be mocked, but I defy any of you to not be in awe of his partnership with Jason Dozzell during their now-legendary spell at Ipswich Town
must be up there? They paid £10million for him!
is involved in several of these
I went through a Jeffers phase with my Master League team. It basically involved me taking it around the keeper with a good player then passing it back to Jeffers so he could score. I saved every goal he scored on my Francis Jeffers Memory Card.
Graeme Souness signing someone who falsely claimed to be George Weahs cousin on the strength of one phone call.
WHAT ABOUT HIM?
about that bloke that Souness signed for Saints? Claimed to be related to George Weah?
Let me give you Robert Fleck, Chris Sutton, David Mitchell, Christian Panucci, Brian Laudrup. And of course Shevchenko and Kezman.
Most of these seemed relatively shrewd(if far too expensive) purchases at the time, but they were all appalling for the Blues.
he was amazing (ly bad)
Wasn't he rotting in the reserves for about two years picking up 40k a week? Madness
Zenden. Waste of Benitezs money. He's so bad, and past it to boot. He's a winger, you don't get ageing wingers.
Shame, cause benitez normally buys good players, him and Morientes aside. Though Lucas Neill?!
we haven't actually bought lucas neill though. all he does is foul.
he was good before liverpool, and he;s been good since he left. It just diddn't really happen for him in this country
as he was utterly ineffectual.
I'm still agape we nearly signed Lucas Flaming Neill.
And there aint nothing you can do to stop it mwahahahahaha.
He ran in slow motion and his turning circle was like a player in the original pro evo!
was pretty attrocious
Scored some important goals once he got off the mark, it just took him forever to do so.
Then he became amazing in Spain!
who signed for Southampton that claimed to be George Weah's cousin. What was his name again?
my week's viewing. With a hearty LOL.
Ronny Rosenthal. Apart from one amazing hat trick against the saints.....
And 442 did a supplement on great FA Cup performances and had the cheek not to include it!
the best open goal miss ever
as is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YKHPNH6BL4
"No! Nooo! You CANNOT miss these goals"
23 Mill profit for Arsenal AND they replaced him with Henry.
I think a worse signing by Chelsea. Andriy Shevchenko is going to be one of the worst signings ever made. How much was Crespo? John Obi Mikel looks poor.
plus 92k a week.
plus another 20k a week and add on a couple of years for Mr Shevchenko
every two matches.
Hardly an awful signing.
£16.8 million for a squad player?
Add SWP to this to.
looks poor for 17 million, but the initial value was 400 000 or something, the waste of money is all the compensation.
i don't think drogba, even with this years performance, was worth what they paid.
But he scored twice against man u a few years ago, so can be let off....
Wow, he really was shit. I used to love Jason Cundy when I was a kid. He was like an even poorer mans Neil Ruddock
ive never seen anyone score more own goals. you can stick ben thatcher on that list as well.
Did score from near the halfway line before Beckham...
He worked his socks off, scored a reasonable number of goals and was a class act. Unfortunately, Mrs Crespo didn't care for London.
But yeah, I'd forgotten Veron and Bogarde. And Bosnich and Mutu.
Chelsea have always had more money than sense. Even when they didn't have any money.
is a hero in my books.
wasn't really chelsea's fault that two of their players were taking cocaine. I mean, it's hardly performance enhancing.
He's an alright squad player
he's prepared lose teeth for the cause
barely got a kick, but he's a class act.
Things may have been different if that header on his debut had been allowed to stand.
When he came on he was god awful and looked completely out of his depth.
He may look a class act in the Championship but he's not Premiership quality.
Always gets accused of being lazy and doing nothing except score but without him, Southampton would be in mid-table rubbishness.
With him, we're in with a real shout of promotion.
ghaly is ok. Andy booth......jesus what were we thinking. rebrov ill defend. he was ok, i think hoddle just messed his head up
cundy was going to be in this years celebrity big brother.....
I fucking hate Paul Stalteri though.
was officially the worst defender i have ever seen. The amount of mistakes that guy made.....idiot. Also, Leeds signing Fowler.
When they were together at Dynamo, there wasn't much between him and Shevchenko. It just shows what a wrong move can do to a players career
I used to go see Dynamo, and they were awesome together.
The season before last, I can't really think of many players better than Shevchenko (it's such a shame what happened to him), and Rebrov was just doing terrible.
Or am I thinking of somebody else? I remember being pretty jealous when Spurs signed him. But, Hoddle being Hoddle, they managed to suck all the confidence out of a previously brilliant footballer
I went to the Ukraine group games in the world cup, it was amazing.
Then came the Switzerland and Italy games... But hell, we got as far as England!
I was at the game...
keeper did fall over a bit.
Ukraine don't get many good moments :(
Nothing compared to Rebrov's goal !
What a keeper.
DJx2 should do alright for us. He wasnt world endingly bad for United at all times, and to be fair, he's only got to replace a 32 year old Micah Hyde.
hes going to be great signing for you guys. A seasoned international. U dont become bad over night, he just didnt settle at villa and Man u
just signed at teh wrong time, same with kleberson. a season later and they'd probably have got enough games to settle.
a fair team when everyone is fit, to be fair. Just without Andy Gray up front we're left with Gifton-Noel Williams. Hurrah.
Most of my family are United, so I've seen DJx2 a fair bit (on't telly, but still). He wasnt universally bad for them. I think maybe he must have a bit of an attitude on him too. I remember him arsing things up a bit at Villa in that way.
What was the name of that awful striker Liverpool bought? Sean Dundee or something?
must be responsible for the most amazing ratio of good to hilariously shit footballers
'The new Zidane'
I remember that 3-3 draw with Southampton. Funniest performance ever.
David Bellion was amazing.
Quickest player I've ever seen. Didn't seem to know how to pass, shoot or kick the ball, though.
Lee Sharpe was fairly crap after being sold to Leeds.
Marco Boogers, Javier Margas, Ibrahima Bakayoko (wasnt that his name - I swear he must have been signed by Everton because he was ace on Champ Manager. The blokes who make it are Everton fans too, aren't they?).
Corrado Grabbi was hillariously crap at Blackburn.
First Italian in the Premiership - Andrea 'Nose' Silenzi at Forest
Stephane Guivarc'h at Newcastle
Florin Raducioiu at West Ham
Robert Jarni at Coventry (for a day)
Most of Souness' signings ever
So we asked Question Man. After a few brief moments we got his (apparently true) response
"Andrea Silenzi is famous for becoming the first Italian footballer to play in the English Premiership. He is no longer a professional footballer, and runs an ice cream van firm"
I really, really hope this is true. On a related note, Sonny Pike was/is now studying pyschology at a Scottish university (I forget which)
Actually, surely he must be the worst. After all - they actually paid a lot of money for him. He only played 20 games or something?
Pablo Counago Free
Andy Marshall Free
Chris Hogg £150000
Tommy Miller £750000
Finidi George £3,000000
Matteo Sereni £4,500000
Thomas Gaardsoe £1,300000
Ulrich Le Pen £1,400000
Marcus Bent £3,000000
Apart from Miller and Gaardsoe, each of these players proved to be appalling buys culminating in relegation and financial meltdown.
faithful had a simple, but great song about that Ali Dia
'Ali Dia, he's a liar
'Ali Dia, he's a liar'
never pay money for anyone and we will always get the players on trial here before signing them, Sturrock had a good eye for a player as well. Then again Leon Clarke who we got on loan was one of the worst players I've ever seen.
The Argyle faithful aren't convinced with Kevin Gallen, but they wern't convinced with Hayles or Nalis and they have both been ace.
here's the highlights/lowlights, whichever way you want to look at it:
knut anders fostervold
zhang enhua (wasn't THAT bad, but he cost us about £10,000 a week apparently)
hmm, there's more where they came from.
hopefully he'll prove me wrong...
if only he could shoot straight...
Actually why the fuck am I trying to defend Jon Stead, he's shit!
maybe Warnock's seen something the rest of us haven't, ie., the 12 games when he first started for Blacburn when he netted an acceptable 6 goals...
oh dear oh dear
and he was absolutely immense. Probably the best individual performance I've ever seen live. But then David Thompson far excelled a young Steven Gerrard so maybe that game isn't something to make generalisations from. Heskey is usually shit.
