They've just announced that they're making 150 redundant. Big meeting in 10 mins.
but he's a real trooper! He always puts the hours in and is a much valued member of the team!
He's got kids to support!
it's not pleasant.
what's the redundancy offer? If it's 3 months full pay or more then I say take it
(good luck man)
Will update when I know more
has just had one of those meetings at work :(
but so far 3 people in my team have been let go. They were here much longer than me too. This isn't very nice at all. Just after christmas too.
but still, congrats?
I still feel sorry for the others though. They have family's and mortages and the like
and just think of the payout they'll be getting compared to what you would if they have been there that much longer.
Did they not ask for volunteers first?
hope all goes well.
nobody had a clue
you just got 4 times as much work to do ;)
do not turn the key in the ignition
do not force any stiff doors
Are they getting decent payout, though? I hope so...
I'd imagine they'd get something. I don't understand though, we made a larger profit than last year so I don't see why this is necessary.
only messing with you! i know what you mean!! *hugs for luck*
The UK one is utter tosh. There's a legal requirement for the company to pay you (roughly) a week's pay for every year you've worked (tax free) but it maxes out at a £15K wage. Then you have to hope your company has the good will to pay you more.
£15K??!! Why block it there? It's ludicrous. It should be at a MINIMUM level of 15K I'd say.
I've never been made redundant, I think it's a bit better than that though
as traditionally the jobs where everyone gets made redundant are factory style ones where 15k is average (or even slightly high) pay
I mean restructure later this month.. Scary times. Hope internet usage isn't one of the criteria.
I think it would be quite a good payout if I got made redundant, 6 years so 6 weeks pay and my notice period - 3 months I think??
Still, I'd be shitting it if I didn't line up another equally good job quickly.
Have my fingers crossed for you mister.
