I don't blame them. Wigan are shit. I hope they get relegated.
ever saying Northerners were better fans. Are you confused with Geordies, or Scousers. Or Hammers? Er, oh.
The thing about Wigan is that it is an odd town footie wise. The majority of the population prefers rugby. I know a couple of friends from that area that resent the footie team's recent success because of the effect it had on rugger attendance. It is no suprise people have gone back to rugby as the football team has become less successful.
and catchment area have something to do with this.
Rovers have the same problem. We only fill the ground when we drop the price to £15 otherwise it's about 20k average.
Within a one hour drive of Wigan or Blackburn you've got Liverpool, Everton, Man City, United, Preston, Burnley etc etc.
Too many clubs, not enough fans for teh shit ones.
is a massive generalisation.
Wigan is a Rugby League town. It only has a population of 300000, yet manages to fill the stadium (25000) for Rugby League games. It's a lot to expect the sporting fan population of the town to visit the same stadium to watch a football game in the same week. Especially in a town situated midway between Liverpool and Manchester.
£15 for a ticket is plenty, anyway. Hopefully other clubs will follow suit.
just say exactly that?
RIGHT next to them, and they made quite a lot of noise for such an average amount of people...
This is if you're talking about the W.Ham match a few Weds ago..
we don't have those problems.
you are a better fan. you blow.
I ALWAYS used to associate Wigan with Rugby League, Va'aiga Tuigamala and other greats.
Now I just associate it with Paul Jewell.
You can understand why people feel aggrieved.
On another note, I've just found out that Tuigamala runs the undertakers' that buried the late and very fat king of Tonga. The world gets weirder.
they will have needed the strength of a rugby player to deal with it.
That is all...
