Maybe Neville Southall? Or does Nigel Spink take your fancy? What of Tim Flowers and John Lukic? Vote now!
I would regard as being in his best in the 1980's.
Has to be Schmeichel really
I was a big Schmeichel fan. BUT
Jose Luis Chilavert? He scored free kicks and everything. Possibly too much of a maverick?
he wasn't as good a keeper as Schmeichel. You pick your keeper to prevent goals, not to score them.
is only an average keeper, witha great gimmick!
The players reaction is amazing - Oh jeez not again...
Innit. Even his own team think it's funny.
a warwickshire league then? thats quite surreal seeing those names on DIS.
and wellesbourne, which is where my parents still live. I used to work in Bishop's tachbrook, odd. Good to see there is another hammer in warwickshire.
I would say, without a doubt.
but the best keeper I have ever seen was Stefan Klos, he saved Rangers so many times. He's a bit past his best now though.
is the best goalkeeper of all time never mind the 90's
the goalkeepers of the past pretty much pale in comparison to more recent ones to be honest and schmeichel was a league above any other keeper.
the only keeper where in a one on one situation you favoured him to save it over the striker scoring.
Schmeichel and a close second goes to Steven Pears.
He was a 'flash' keeper who would pull off loads of great saves, but only because his postioning was suspect. See also Abbiati.
Toldo at his best is better then both of them and the best in ther world ever. But he's so inconsistant.
didn't play more regularly for Italy but they did have some decent keepers. Marchegiani was good in the 94 World Cup.
I mean Sebastino Rossi was a fixture for AC Milan in the early/mid 90's and never played for Italy or he may have played a few times, I can't remember!
Luca Bucci was a very good keeper as well in the same period.
it just so happened he had the most rock solid defence ever in front of him.
But Italy had an influx of great keepers in the 90's.
The defense did help nicely though.
for Italian Keepers. Marchegiani was ace.
Buffon <<<<< all of these. Except Rossi.
why they kept picking him for England I do not know.
Alan Knight. He was also the best of the late 70s, and entire 80s.
Now HE deserved his MBE.
Ogrizovic or wuteva his name was.
Also scored directly from a goal kick (this was not in the 90s.) I WIN. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Ogrizovic
oh okay then it was schmeichel.
No. Toldo, Toldo, Toldo.
He opened the Foot Locker store in Lakeside one year. Good times
tony pennock was my favourite keeper
without a doubt.
And I don't even like him !
too unreliable! He could go from awesome to awful during one game.
For France he was always great !
No one else comes close.
i concur with all the schmeichel loving up there ^^^. he was such a hero. it's either him or andy dibble. ROFLOOOOOROOFL.
But Seaman comes close. Seeing Seaman come rushing out on many occaisons takes me back to my adolescence
is the greatest man alive. SUCH a hero.
But would you fuck him? Didn't think so
then Seaman. Look at their trophies won during the 90's and try and disagree with me.
Schmeichel was worth 30 points a season. AT LEAST.
Seaman was an integral part of the famour Arsenal defence.
