Happy new year to you all! We're back with another Shake, Rattle and Bowl at Bloomsbury Bowling this Saturday night! (Saturday 6th January 2007). Shake, Rattle and Bowl is now established as a quality retro night on the first Saturday of each month, and our last couple of parties at the end of last year were excellent fun. TimeOut have made us critics choice this week and we're looking to start the year as we mean to go on, excellent music and lots of dancing! Bloomsbury Bowling is a unique venue, as it combines 50's retro themed bowling lanes with a nice big dancefloor, karaoke booths, table football, pool and even a free cinema for you to enjoy and experience in the same night! Bowling is available on a first come, first served basis, and you can also book the karaoke rooms for you and your friends to have your own little private party! To do this, contact the venue directly via their website.
The party starts at 9.00pm and goes on until 3.00am, with entry being £5 with a printout of this flyer, or £6 without. Bowling is available on a first come first served basis, and shoes etc are available to hire on the night. If there are more than 10 people in your group, reply to this email with your names and I'll arrange for you to be put on a concessionary list for cheaper entry. Bloomsbury Bowling is located in the centre of town, with nearest tubes Russell Square and Euston being just a short walk away, and plenty of night buses running from nearby Holborn. All drinks are reasonably priced and there will also be White Russians on sale at £3 all night long! We're also giving out special Shake, Rattle and Bowl badges for the early birds, so please try and arrive early!
I'll be DJing all night, playing the cream of 50's and 60's Rock N Roll, Soul, Motown, Girl Groups, Freakbeat, Psychedelia and Ska, plus modern day interpretations of that sound. We're also joined at midnight by critically acclaimed indie upstarts Xerox Teens, who will play a midnight DJ set of Rock n Roll and other dancefloor fillers. To build a picture of the kind of thing you might hear, think Beatles, Stones, Sonics, Stax, Ska, through to obscure garage rock and dancefloor Northern Soul classics. We'll also chuck in plenty of modern interpretations of this sound too, so expect stuff like Le Tigre, The Gossip, The Horrors etc alongside older stuff. We are still only a baby club so haven't yet got many friends on myspace (sob sob..!) If you would like to join us on myspace, please feel welcome to do so. Hope to see lots of you there on Saturday!

I'd spend half the time going 'yay! twee pop!' and half going 'ugh, playing bad music ironically makes me cry'. Hmm.
when Paul was doing Strange Fruit he always seemed very honest about which records he liked and which he didn't. Can't speak for the others, I guess.
but two people playing Rihanna and Madonna?!
not their playlists...
Rihanna didn't have a career. Whiny-voiced little poltroon.
Whatever happened to Christina Milian?

I'll hang fire for the moment. I just think the Pipettes are a lot of fun, especially to dance around to. Anyway, it's just, like, an opinion, innit.

but no alcohol allowed :(
Lots of alcohol allowed. :)
i was intending to :)
i was probably sober or something.
just to clarify.
my birthday is tomorrow but thanks anyway.
under the impression that After Skool is good? (cheap booze aside)
the free entry if youre there early?
a fair amount of pretty people?
on saturday nights?
i really enjoyed going there over the summer, but the quality of the music took a considerable dip when the students came back.
as did the quality of the crowds.
haircut indie really, razorkaiserartickooks blah blah blah
The already mentioned free booze went down nicely though.
I meant cheap.
things i normally hear there:
css, dfa1979, lcd soundsystem, justice, le tigre, postal service, yeah yeah yeahs, tv on the radio. just good, dancey indie/indiey dance stuff.
AND the mixing is generally pretty good
AND they always throw in one rawk tune, like ratm or nirvana, and there will be a small pit, and its awesome.
truely, i never really used to enjoy clubs until i started going there.
it sounds great
my friend who I've not seen in months has e-mailed me to ask me if...... I want to go to Afterskool this Saturday. What are the chances?
we'll all be there.
it would be a bit like Frog. Which makes me never want to go there in a MILLION years...
Too many salivating young people, yeuch.
i refuse to go to Frog, i hate it
1) cheap drinks
2) better music
3) no live bands
I don't think I can. :(
But I am now coming to Zonino!2
much less trendy. And smaller. And cheaper. And music I know because I'm not too old.
any of those in there.
I better get tips...
get a real job, ya bum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Start home office soon. So ner...
it's just..... OK SO I WANT TO GO TO CRIMESAGAINSTPOP ARRRRRRRGH
If so, count me and Rachel in. Definitely. I've even got you a present Alc!
i may even try and convince my new flatmate to come along.
the one tattys used to be on.
They do pickled eggs, which is good enough for me. And someone called "raziqrauf" on Beerintheevening.com says it's "thoroughly splendid"
with singapore noodles at Wong Kei's first. cheap fast and my favourite meal in the entire fucking world.
multiple reasons for celebration
finish work friday.
not really so much of a cause for celebration, as it takes my weekly income from £250 to £45 per week.
swings n roundabout hey?
spend the weekend celebrating then monday y'can find another job, or sleep.
(please say yes)
both would be ideal.
But I'd wish that person a happy birthday in advance.
