Gold: Alan Partridge
Silver: The Office
Bronze: Curb your enthusiasm
Silver: Garth Marenghi
and black books
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh too many
Black Books by a mile
is the most overrated sitcom of all time.
most longlasting. It STILL makes me guffaw.
on the garth merenghi front...love that shit.
everything about it is amazing.
Gold: The Office
Silver: I'm Alan Partridge
FATHER TED MY GOD WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!
also, an irish one called 'the last furlong' it's fucking hilarious.
The Good Life
1 - Father Ted
2 - Black Books
3 - Arrested Devolopment
Black Books was capable of a hell of a lot more, given the people involved
some of it was shit, some was utter genius.
but i haven't seen it since it was on tv and i can't remember. maybe that's indicative in itself. DAMMIT
Big Train most of today, it is sad when people total run out of ideas :(
Seasons 4-8 (roughly)
I could watch those episodes over and over and not get bored, unlike the last 12 seasons of turd
End Of Thread.
The office can fuck off, it's boring
I don't really know what you mean on either
your opinion= null and void. you think father ted is good.
can't we just lump them as one?
1. Father Ted
2. Curb Your enthusiasm
3. Controversial, but Scrubs.
Not controversial at all. That was fighting with my number 4 spot with Arrested Development.
Incidentally, I watched my first episode of The Larry Sanders Show today. It's good, and it's teetering on the edge of Amazing.
The characters of Artie and Hank just pushed their way onto my top 10 sitcom characters list. In fact...
I once wrote a song about the episode where Hank has the Cuban cigars.
I think Scrubs has been, bar a few episodes, consistently excellent.
because it is fairly new and American. Having said that, so is curb. I just fucking love scrubs.
just thinking about it gets me laughing.
craig charles has a way with metaphors.
friends is turd. red dwarf has aged badly
Friends is brilliant, although it's now cool to claim that it isn't.
Early Red Dwarf has aged quite badly, but series 5 & 6 are still the shit.
early - mid friends is good, the rest is SHIT.
but still more watchable than most other American sitcoms.
it has some really bad patches i think, like when there was a hollywood A-lister cameoing in every episode, and when Ross & Monica both decided to shout every line they had. But overall it's good - it's like comfort tv, if yerknowotimean?
everyone has a favourite friends episode. and when it started it was pretty much revolutionary.
Friends was revolutionary if you hadn't watched Seinfeld do the same things better years beforehand.
of course! :)
cannot be forgiven for those last couple of series I'm afraid
8 was much better. Wasn't as good as when Red Dwarf was at its peak, but went some way towards making up for series 7
League of Gentlemen
how could I forget Bottom? Genius!
Nathan Barley makes me sick with laughter.
bottom is just puerile and boring. utterly generic.
just we differ on comedic taste
I still like you.
Unfortunately Adrian Edmondson is an Old Boy of my school, so the programme was venerated to such an extent that episodes of Bottom often appeared in House Drama competitions.
one of the world's biggest Dwarfers, but it really has aged very badly, and Series 7 of it was really quite shit, so much so that I didn't really care about Series 8 when it came around.
Father Ted, Peep Show, Black Books, BITS of the IT Crowd, Nathan Barley, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Spaced, Series 2 of Blackadder, a lot of Alan Partridge, Garth Merenghi (only just discovered it), Phoenix Nights, and the oft-forgotten World of Pub with Kevin Eldon and Peter Serafinowicz.
Nothing for League of Gentlemen - it's a show whose appeal I can appreciate but it's too all-out Grotesque for me. Nothing for Seinfeld - I've never seen it, but I imagine I'd like it if I like Curb, which I do. Nothing for Frasier - it's not terrible, but I don't really do 'witty' humour. Nothing for Green Wing, which I've only ever seen 10 minutes of.
And 3rd Rock From the Sun (shoot me now).
so my judgement is impaired, but it made me hoot with laughter as a youngling.
but like Curb, so that logic may not work
it makes me laugh.
game on - mildly funny.
frasier - got shit when niles and daphne got together. (all the english characters are shite too).
men behaving badly - relic of cringey 90's laddism. still smileworthy though.
1. Father Ted
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
3. The Office
it's not funny in any way.
the royle family has been getting overlooked too.
have seen a few episodes and found them cringemakingly shit.
2. Steptoe and Son
3. The Office
League Of Gentleman
Also the most quotable comedy ever.
scrubs, spaced, black books. in no order.
Silver: The Office
Bronze: Arrested Development
1 Black Books
2 Father Ted
3 The Office
4 The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin
5 Dads Army
6 Steptoe and Son
7 Rising Damp
9 Peep Show
