but my parents (the ones who won't let me get drunk) are watching Jonathan Ross. sadface times a billion.
refresh my memory on what it's about?
This should tell you all you need to know about the old ultra violence...
it'll give you funny ideas
I love this film
I haven't seen it for ages. I was 18 the first time I saw it in a cinema in Melbourne - an arthouse cinema - it too had been banned in Oz... I was veeeeeery stoned at the time and fell asleep at the end! LOL.
It is a very good film. One of my top ten ever........
It's a stunning film in many ways but its reputation precedes it. People tend to overlook the fact that the second half is incredibly tedious because of all the raping and such. There are several Kubricks I like better.
But the prison scenes were filled with humour and the Ludovico Technique scenes were utterly terrifying. I think I found the second half more disturbing than the first...
I've read the book, and it can't be better than that. It's so good.
dont be put off by having read the book, the film is ace as well.
and drags on a bit but still rocks the housio
I watched it then and found it excellent. Tonight I watched the girl next door on BBC1, I probably should have gone out.
The Book is better
Kubrick shouldn't have changed the ending
The score is stunning
Casting a northerner as Alex makes Burgess's language sound better
Nadsat is the best
The score is amazing
The old ultraviolence is over-exagerrated
The sets are gorgeous
I'm beginning to recognise Kubrick's style
how does it end?
no me old moodges, my real name is chris_is_cool
I wish it ended like that.
and the last shot is a poo flying towards the camera
but almost entirely because of the art design and the music.
the dystopian retro-futurist 1960s-decor-nightmare colourfuck bits, you know.
in terms of the point of it all, i think the film is far more facile than the book in terms of its message, but i actually prefer kubrick's ending.
it wasn't really *HIS* ending anyway... I find it *so* unsatisfying anyway....
The decoration and music are amazing, I had to go out and buy Beethoven records today
