I just started a new job
It's fun, stimulating, friendly, and we are actively encouraged to play games on the products, that is, the video and gambling games that one sees in pubs, and going to the pub at lunch time is considered normal.

welcome to
life
Stupid and unconnected comment
OMG, what sort of company do you work for?
Gaming?
I write software
for the said games - the games progammers work there too.
The 'meeting' room has a real poker table with real poker chips
Cool!
Sounds like fun!
I ENVY YOU
I WAS ADDICTED TO HANGMAN 2. I LOVE QUIZ GAMES! I LOVE QUIZ GAMES!
</excitashout>
...
You sound like one of those wankers who thinks people on the internet you don't know and will probably never meet will be interested in the petty minutiae of your life when in reality... etc etc
he really bit you that time didn't he
...
I'm way too old and cool for internet feuds.
All I'm doing is copying the gist of his original post to highlight how he should perhaps think about practising what he preaches for hopefully humourous effect.
P.S. Your mum bit you.
What's your point?
that actually sounds quite interesting
are you talking about those Who Wants To Be A Millionaire games they have in pubs? There's one in my local. Can we scam it? I'll give you 20%
I can change the percentage pay-out
but I won't
you sound like one of those wankers
who thinks people on the internet you don't know care when you say stuff like "You sound like one of those wankers who thinks people on the internet you don't know and will probably never meet will be interested in the petty minutiae o"f your life when in reality... etc etc
itbox (or similar)?
or fruit machine?
Pub Hangman
is unbelievably fun. As is Who Wants to Be A Millionaire with 10 people crowded round it flapping at the screen.
Capitalist
Scum
we play deal or no deal all the time
I actually think I'm the best educated guesser in the world. We could have won £6.50 the other day but we didnt deal and ended up with £4. Tribulations.
There was a week in my first year at uni when we won, no exaggeration, about £50 on "the Q music quiz" because its difficult questions were like "name this member of Pavement" and "what year was Propeller by Guided By Voices released". Idiots! They did have the sense to take it off the machine before we sucked it dry. The amount of times I gleefully answered "bob nastanovich" to win stupid amounts of money ... those were the days!
We also randomly won £20 on cluedo just by guessing everything.
I love these machines!
They're great
my nights out are 50/50 between getting abuse from friends for being "unsociable" by playing on them, or leading a crowd of 8-10 in a game of 'pub quiz'
There's a certain amount of pride attached to emptying the hopper so that you need to go to the bar to ask for the prize
I also love those machines.
Cluedo can be easy money sometimes, as well as that pop quiz one.
I can usually get a few quid everytime on Millionaire as well. There was also this football one I remember which kept giving money for achieving not a lot.
