i'll just go and sit in the corner :(
so young, so foolish!
Although technically not a band. God, he is shit.
That's not embarrassing. Your POST is embarrassing.
tolerant of a con than I am.
though i made us so late we only saw like, 4 songs :'(
also marilyn manson
at Leeds Festival one year.
Mazza live is great. And i'm not even a huge fan of his.
go with the intention of seeing Enter Shikari?
a recurring theme :(
...despite getting in free. Damn trains.
it was also the scariest gig I have ever been to
Someone from 5ive (Abz?)
Members of Blazin(g?) squad
Ocean Colour Scene.
I had a really good time, actually. But I was 13 and didn't really know any better.
someone threw a Bible at the singer which i still find amusing to this day.
but i went to see 911 and b*witched
if an embarrasing albums thread starts, let it be said that I own their eponymous debut and second album Awake & Breathe and would have ploughed* through that Lindsay one had that little twat from 5ive not got their first.
they did that ace song!
BBMak....there's a blast from the past...
supporting the Pixies!
funeral for a friend
red hot chili peppers
but to be fair, most of these were at festivals when i was 14 and support acts. still :(
When I was 19 in the Cornerhouse with about 7 other people. They were ace :D
And NERD are ace.
And Ash were the first band I ever saw on their first national tour!
FFAF really is that i missed BSP to go and have lunch cos they were on straight after. Plus they were shit, and i only went cos there was nothing else on
you're right, NERD were pretty good, but ash were the worst thing i've ever seen ever and i HATE THEM.
i think they were worse cos i was expecting the pixies. ARGH.
Ash were ace :(
It's still one of my favourite gigs ever.
girl from mars
with a passion
Hulk HOgan Bubble Bath?
i haven't heard any of those. I've just never been interested in further investigating what they sound like because everything i have so far heard i've hated.
SOMEONE'S GOING TO GET AN ASH MIXTAPE.
I'll put some Hefner and China Drum and Symposium on it to lighten it up a bit.
But I was too young. I'm sure Cave In played there a short while later too...
and Terrorvision a little after that. It was an ace part of my life.
and shit friends for this:
I need fucking BITCH-SLAPPED for that one.
Also, I've seen HIM, but 'slightly' less embarassed about that one. Still inexcusable behaviour on my part.
A friend made me see them because she didn't want to go alone.
I left her there alone.
i've also (paid) to see king adora and stereophonics. but not on the same bill. that would be too good.
Forgot bout that one.
Disgusting band. Absolutely DISGUSTING.
KA were ace. Best Gig Ever - Mansun supported by King Adora and My Vitriol! Yay!
Its funny that you've seen Him and The Others, because "Him and The Others" are an obscure sixties band who made one of the best one-off singles ever...and then got dropped.
...i'm going to have to run through this whole thread and weed out bands that need leaving alone. Space were ace. That rhymes and you know it rhymes.
Oasis, Manic Street Preachers.
both on the same day! It was fun at the time, but I'm hard pressed to think of bands that I think are shitter than those two. At least I can console myself with the thought thati just went along for the day out, rather than through any love of their 'music'
Oasis at Wembley in 2000, umm, the Libertines, like loads of times in 2002. Also: S Club 7
to be embarrassed about seeing The Libertines
then im rolling out the big ones...
If we are counting festivals then I win because I saw Limp Bizkit
alanis morisette play at a festival, hmmm
About 6 times : (
Complete and utter disco/hardcore emo nonsense who supported Reuben at the Mean Fiddler. All through their set, you could practically feel the impatience.
Either that or U2. Yes folks, I have seen U2.
it could have atleast been someone 'novelty chic' like take that :'(
say Phil Collins, but I won't because he was fucking great!
I'd completely forgotten about them.
hanson. but then i've already told lots of dissers this, and they all seemed rather happy about it, so i'm not really ashamed.
J club at brdistlol final fantasy it seemed!
probably some others too.
they were fucking crap.
i've told this story millions of times on here, so i won't bother again. needless to say, it was crap.
i saw Linkin Park, but it was supporting Deftones.
i saw Papa Roach twice, but both were at festivals. although i did go and see them on purpose.
i saw Keane opening for The Dawn Parade at the Metro, although in hindsight that's more LOL worthy than embarassing.
from the front row, because at ozzfest tool were on after them. there was some sad numetal guy stood next to me rapping along with them, and after a few minutes of papa roach and me and my friend pissing ourself laughing at coby dicks antics, he turned to me and said/shouted 'THIS IS TOTALLY SERIOUS!'
funniest moment of my life.
i saw them at that very same ozzfest.
tool actually sent me to sleep. fucking boring AS!
mania, with no possibility of objectivity. i think i even did a white weewee in my pants.
but at least i didnt fancy nicky wire, there's always that.
fancied nicky wire.
although i did have a screaming fanboy attack at brixton in 29002003. the reason why still escapes me to this day.
clearly i mean 2003.
That was funny.
overweight lesbians playing pop punk. they were called fabulous disaster.
i'm not sure :'(
I had to go because it was a work thing.. Actually what I found even more embarassing were middleaged women shouting: robbiiiiieeeeeeee all around me. It was a very strange experience :S
Sting (i was forced ok)
Adam & the Ants
Snow Patrol (tonight... they were bad)
One of the times he let me touch his guitar. I'm really not joking.
took me a while to even admit that to myself.
I don't go to many gigs where I'm not reasonably sure I will enjoy them. Unless it's to be social. In which case:
Razorlight (after they got big)
Less Than Jake.
All of those were because people asked me to go.
Is that what you mean?
Up All Night is a FUCKING BRILLIANT album.
might be embarrased about Coldplay or Shed Seven as well. I'm not though so they don't count.
Were Shed Seven good? I really like them.
King Adora playing and then doing a signing at Virgin.
He kept thrusting his crotch right into some poor girl's face. That and they were a bit shit.
Also Steps and Bjorn Again.
Yes, that's right HANSON. It was at the Islington Academy a couple of years ago. I went because my best mate begged me, not because I was ever a fan. It was shocking. So many girls in one room swooning over the children of the corn.
there's a few more. I hope this is cathartic . . . for my 13th birthday I was bought tickets to the Mizz roadshow at our leisure centre where I witnessed Peter Andre, Mark 'return of the mac' Morrisson, Deuce, Boyzone and PJ & Duncan all under one roof! I also went to see S Club 7 the night they announce their split. You are all going to shun me now aren't you?
I too went to see the Fun Lovin' Criminals. I bought the tix and I DID want to be there, they were rubbish and I learnt my lesson. I'm SORRY. Yes it's Marx, yes as in Groucho, yes as in Karl.
weird little skit in the middle of the one I went to. It was meant to be funny, the Godfather meets Star Wars or something, it was dire. Plus the busker outside before hand turned out to be their support act, I gave him money and everything!
Pop Idol tour, featuring Will Young and Gareth Gates. I didn't buy the ticket though.
even though it was kinda fun
apart from that 'Tits on the Radio' song but the crowd at the gig were fun.
PLEASE MAKE THEM STOP!
I got punched in the face as well. Coincedence?
And I once called Stuart Cable a tosser which ruined a job opportunity, but that's for another thread
remember that story! And now that I know it was you that makes it even better. Well done you, I say
I'll wheel it out. Again. For the 34th time
The Mars Volta
I actually wanted to see one of those, and quite enjoyed it. And still like them, a bit. I just added them to the list because I am still aware of the fact that they are a bit embarrassing...
That sounds like the gig of the century.
wasn't it in aid of the unemployed or something silly?
Stereophonics, several times
"Fun" Lovin' Criminals
and that's without the support bands (Northern Uproar!) or festivals
i don't even feel better for having typed this
Jamiroquai are good live
it was like cancer of the ears. i've not forgiven the person who persuaded me to go.
The Fast food rockers, also B*Witched :(
i win by a long shot, i was very young...if that's much of an excuse. :(
the ordinary boys i guess.
But i didn't have to pay for that, and it was before the laughing stock that they are now.
What's even more shameful is that actually paid money for their (first) album when it came out a few weeks later. This is the most shameful thing i've ever admittted on DiS.
but it was free
but i didn't pay for that either
any bands i've seen..........
ok. except maybe one.
i saw the Thrills at the barfly before they became 'big'.
i talked to them, they went to a posh boys school in dublin that was near my school.
But they used to rule man!!
But I'm not entirely sure I'm overly embarrassed. I can't spend my life just watching good stuff. I need some lame stuff to match it up against.
So, thankyou to
The Others (who were good fun the first time I saw them, so there)
Robbie (who was actually pretty fucking good)
The Subways (seven times in a year. All for free, and by accident. Honest)
and some more. Linkin Park? Bizkit? Chumbawamba about 6 times? Should these embarrass me?
I say I was embarrassed when I saw the Subways, I should probably clarify that I was embarrassed for them
RHCP are great live, and give a shit about what anyone else says.
Likewise with foo fighters. I do however, regret seeing fightstar and get cape.wear cape.fly. supporting someone. god they were both utter gash.
to see Usher live at Wembley Arena. It was a surprise for my then girlfriend, as she loved Usher. I bought her two tickets and told her to take a friend. She wanted me to go as it would be "nice". It wasn't. But I'm not embarrassed by it
I always paid to see Stereophonics once. Supported by Ash. And the Black Crowes. DAY AT THE RACES BABY!
I could've put a word in
but ocean colour scene was the first gig i ever went to. this is what happens when you live in the grim north of scotland.
you have to go and see a band play in an ice rink.
and at the millennium celebrations in Inverness i got to see runrig :)
High five, brother.
Ice rink? I saw them at Gloucester Leisure Centre. They must have had some kind of sport fetish.
yeah, inverness ice rink.
they probably put in some bizarre rider requests at some of these venues
The Lighthouse Family!!!
Gomez were great when I saw them.
but i went to see Gomez the other week, they were ace. so meh to you.
that is a great compliment coming from someone so great as yourself.
at festivals though.
I saw puddle of mudd once.
I've just remembered I saw Staind at Reading. I thought I'd banished that memory completely. Damn this thread.
It just gets worse. Why the hell were you there?
festivals shouldn't count. Sometimes seeing a shit band when there's nothing else on so that you don't lose your mates is the only option
they played the birmingham clothes show a few years back. :(
reminds me. All Saints at the Vodafone ball one year. That ball is responsible for a lot of the shit bands that I've seen in my lifetime, actually. Steps is another that comes to mind through the drunken haze...
Boy George, solo, in some pub in Cardiff many years back. My friend was ejected for shouting "Oi, George, get back on the junk"
should be embarassed to say the first real band i ever saw was Manowar.
But i am not because they are THE KINGS OF METAL!
but none I'm embarrassed about.
if festivals don't count none really as I liked them all at the time.
Maybe i've seen Space a FEW more times than strictly 'accidental' though
has accidental seen them? She never mentioned a love of Space.
It's a new BBC reality show hosted by Graham Norton, where members of bands have to pretend to be her. You should have seen the bassist from Jamiroquai's attempt. Gold stuff.
had a kind of Yin and Yang of cool going on. In one tent we had Four Tet and Fabio, with Grooverider in the bar. Awesome.
And on the main stage were Chesney Hawkes, Mel B and Lonyo...
im not embarassed of any of the gigs ive been to. ive never seen a boyband or any of that kind of thing.
i played at a uni ball alongside dane bowers... but i avoided watching him. heh
King Adora, and not just because I saw them but because I saw them a stupid amount of times.
I went to party in the park once, I saw Bryan Adams. I wanted to die.
no, really. I was kinda young though.
ok, ok i AM a bad person.
i dont care if anyone likes them here, they were AWFUL. and the bassist is blates a tranny!
there's not even any bands I liked at the time which I don't in some way like now.
, Westlife, A1..... and a few other bands I've never heard of again, all at the Smash Hits Poll winners Party - think I was 21 at the time so that just makes it even SADDER! So perhaps not so young but so very VERY foolish...Ahhhhhhhhhhh! hahaha :-/
yeah, they were the other band. One of them looked pretty hot tho, so does that excuse me??
them 4 stick out, saw them all support other bands mind, the others was funny, cos i was slagging them off in a pub with my best mate to someone who turned out to be the others drummer, bugger even waved at us mid set and smiled
wasn't that covered by LOLLY?
As in Viva La Radio?
She was terrible.
Yeah! hahaha excellent, so glad u remembered! ;P
i was 19 or 20 and those people from eurovision that got no points supported got booed off
oh yeah :P
the lead singer peed on me with his prosthetic penis.
Radio 1 roadshow in Skegness about 12 years ago is a highlight for me.
Alanis Morrisette at the height of her 'powers' and Showaddywaddy are awful.
Bell X1 (supporting the Divine Comedy)
Turin Brakes (although Simian, the support, were ace)
Cast (supporting the Beautiful South)
The Beautiful South
The Zutons (supporting the Coral, who I quite like)
Hundred Reasons (at Truck)
Kill me, kill me now!
Probably some really awful bands.
I actually enjoyed The Others loads when I saw them, and I suppose that's all that matters about live music.
I don't regret going, and to be honest losing indie points really doesn't bother me.
most of live 8.
your comment almost left me in tears.
Fantastic i feel clean now.
I really can't remember, but I am sure there are many more. It is true that I didn't like any of these bands (they were the fixations of friends), however I can't really talk cos I was in an equally bad way musically at the time.
Kylie (free ticket)
D:REAM (Ting can only get better)
A Smiths tribute band called 'This Charming Man'
An Oasis tribute band
Santana( I took my mum for her birthday)
Enrique Mole isnlgodjasjjjgs
but really my mother should be embarrassed as she took me. I was 12 and innocent.
G4 or whatever they were called, Sugarbabes, Ronan Keating, Lemar, Marty Pellow the list if shite pop stars goes on.. Woolworths parties.
and Men Women and Children.
I don't care what people think of the bands, but personally, I don't like them at all any more, so its a bit of a bad area to go.
YOU HAVE MY HEART IN YOUR HANDS SO,
DONT, DONT LET IT GO!
CHECK MY PRESSURE
