It's a myth. a MYTH.
endlessly when drinking tea.
I think the myth holds water.
BUT FAT AND STUPID PEOPLE DO DRINK COFFEE
and caffeine stimulates the release of a hormone that stimulates urination. So I think it might be.
Scientists refute this argument.
Tea myths & facts
Myth: Tea is dehydrating.
Fact: Tea is rehydrating, not dehydrating. In fact, due to the volume of fluid that is drunk whilst enjoying a ‘cuppa’, the British Dietetic Association advises that tea can contribute to the daily recommended intake of 1.5 to 2 litres.
that's a bit of a silly statement!
doesn't that just mean that "drinking water helps you drink water"?
there's also water in salt water
and she doesn't.
but she's like wrong. Sorry!
not factually incorrect or anything. Just WRONG.
And i hate shit. It smells.
Bit hung over.
Bit chilly. But perfectly fine.
it's been okay so far really. Which is nice.
Happy Sunday! Have some tea.
I can be wrong.
Although your article says that 'drinking four cups of tea can be rehydrating'. Which means that one might not be.
But I like tea. So ok.
is the word i believe.
and yes it is dehydtrating
Tea is the king of hot drinks.
bag stewed for 3 minutes. a dash of milk. no sugar.
then my sunday really begins...
Now I like it strong, white and with a half a teaspoon of white sugar. Like my men. (?)
i do like your men.
Tea is a diuretic. And it depends on the type of tea, anyhooo... I drink rooibosch, peppermint, dandelion, cammomile, fresh lemon and so on... when I'm not drinking my weekly cup of filtered coffee.. and and... ummm... yeah, builders tea (ie PG TIPS) only every now and then.
Caffine is a diuretic. A diruetic is something that increases the rate of bodily urine excretion. So tea is dehydrating; it's not a myth.
the amount of water you get from it cancels out the diuretic effect.
the same is true with coffee.
it IS true, stephen fry even said it on QI and if you disagree you are a real tosser.
left hand and have tea for the rest of my life, than have a hand and have no tea.
Milk and two heaps for I.
Two in the morning, one at lunch time, two or three before tea, and then four or five to ease me into the night.
its about coffee but applies to tea too:
to be dehydrating, tea and coffee, they are dieuretics. It is only very recently studies are saying them to be hydrating. Make yr friggin' mind up! So I don't know which is right.
I do know this though: if you drink water instead of tea you will feel so much better! Fact.
because i'm thirsty.
god it's good to say that and not feel silly. phew!
tea = liquid
the amount of caffeine in tea is minimal, therefore despite it's dieuretic properties, the volume of water in the tea means that tea as a whole is hydrating, not dehydrating. However, you WOULD be better drinking water, which contains no caffeine.
