FFS - what are the cures?
Am almost at medicine man stage....

I have battled with it for years. The usual things t try and help....light exersise, warm baths, reading, no TV an hour before sleeping, no coffee after 12pm...normally if you cannot sleep there's more to it than just not being able to sleep. I generally prefer to stay awake all night and try and have about 3-4hours in the day. It's nice sitting at 5am in the morning writing lyrics/painting etc etc. I would not advise sleeping tablets as they really do make you drowsy. I guess if you like routine try and go to bed at the same time each night and your body will gradually start falling in with your rhythmic sleeping pattern.
Either that or a good masturbation session can you knock you out. So i'm told. By friends. And loved ones.

its a kind of meditation, where you sit in the dark and stare at a candle.
after awhile if you close your eyes, the flame is burned into your vision and its really calming and relaxing to watch the patterns move and change.
makes you very sleepy aswell!
but will try it tonight... Red wine and some of the above helps.
i find it works
i suffer from insomnia cos my mind is a bit overactive sometimes.

I had insomnia before.
Now I wish they could let me sleep...
or I'm stresserd I can't sleep. Other than that, 'I'm a ten hour minimum and certainly no mornings' man.
Getting pissed does the trick mind...
- or try to do something about whatever's stressing you.
Take a long hot bath before bed.
Watch mindless reality tv or soaps just before bed.
Don't drink caffeine past 6pm and that includes tea and green tea.
Alcohol doesn't help insomnia at all.
Don't do anything to mentally stimulate your mind for 30 mins before you intend to go to bed. That means no puters too!

- actually this probably worked for me the best - listen to an album you know/like on repeat over and over in bed on your iPod.
The action of laying still and resting can be almost as good as getting a good night's sleep when you're battling insomnia - so resist the urge to get up at all. Just lie still with your eyes closed.
I hate it when I can't sleep. I used to sleep endlessly but now when I wake up I have to get up which is annoying. I hate that feeling when you're counting down the hours until you have to get up again too.
Everything below is sound advice, I'd just add that you should try and stay still, don't wiggle around coz that just keeps you awake longer.
don't wiggle around any more after that... And make sure your room is dark.
I often plug myself into my ipod to lull myself to sleep, get some micah p hinson on.. tho you might have sad dreams then..

my insomnia. I get all my uni work done at night.
I can't get anything done because I'm semi-tired but not sleepy enough.
I like working at night, it's quiet. I am always wide awake until about 5.
I'm watching loads of old music videos from my childhood on YouTube.
I am a certified pop gal, can't get enough of that cheeeeeese.
I'm getting terribly excited at listening to a lot of old girl bands on YouTube, it's quite embarrassing for a girl of 18 :/
