Best science fiction programme ever.
Better than Star Trek, all versions.
is true! i loved it when it first came out...haven't seen it recently though...
"The Peacekeeper Wars". AMAZING. Well. I watched it with my ex and Gemma a while ago when it was on TV but they hated it so much I was pwnt into turning it off.
But I just got around to watching it alone (as erm most science fiction boys probably do) and, wow. It was brilliant! Full of the usual hilarious crap, cheesey dialogue and quick-witted self-referential.. ness. I dunno. I was inducted gradually when I found it on TV. Maybe getting into it is hard, which is why it was cancelled. But once you're into it, this programme is actually proper genius.
but then again, anything is better than star trek
I remember watching it years ago when it was on BBC2, but then something happened to it that happens to all sci-fi programmes - you miss a couple of episodes and come back to find it so swollen by new characters and a hideous, distended mythology that you can't follow anymore, that it becomes a hassle to watch.
And I wasn't too down with the puppets either.
The only sci-fi prog I liked was Firefly, and that took heavy persuasion to even sit down to watch it.
Farscape is way better. If you can keep up with it, that is. I know what you mean about the fast-paced ... secular (?) ... storyline. Did you see the ones where he found Earth? Some of my complete favourite TV EVAH.
red dwarf though?
of course not
category anyway as it is a comedy sci-fi.
FARCECAPE MORE LIKE. lol
That's what I like about it though, it's very self aware, and aware of the genre, and of cheese factor. It keeps you guessing. It's more intelligent than your average by a factor of 10.
that's exactly what happened to me with farscape.
and these days I always get it confused between that and another sci-fi programme. There's the one where the guy is trying to get home, and there's the one where the guy is trying to rebuild the systems commonwealth.
I'm fairly sure farscape is the first of those.. but i'm not certain.
Found Farscape in it's entirety on BitTorrent though so in um 3 days time expect me to vanish forever while I watch them all.
The other one might be Andromeda. Which was as gash a sci-fi as it was a normal TV programme.
quite right. andromeda. it was terrible; but i liked how they had all the really rubbish philosophy references in that...
I want a second series!
If so that is the best thing ever.
babylon 5 again.
because i used to love it. but that was ages ago, and i might have been wrong. because it was always the early hours of sunday night/monday morning when i watched it. after a day of hangover. so i was in that half-out-of-reality mood.
i was watching this at 2am today! :) addictive viewing.
really early this morning. Which one did you watch? I was watching "Small Potatoes" which is a very funny episode. All about shape shifting.
'postmodern prometheus'..it was very strange...about this mutant guy and this bizzare town where everyone was obssessed with jerry springer...
I preferred John Doggett to Fox Mulder.
You didn't keep expecting him to start saying "CALL TO JOHN!"?
i am no longer talking to you.
about that programme was the comedy alien swearwords.
What the frel?
I am in the process of renting the whole lot :)
When I said this before everyone said it was too 'full on'
It's the televisual equivalent of Germlin.
