thank you sarkyfox x
was meant to have been a bit disasterous wasn't it?
it was full of drugged up wankers and the bands were shit and there were queues and stuff. But I went and had an excellent night :)
a bit pants. i wouldn't waste my money...
I like those.
true true :)
will have to do some weighing up..
So probably no.
Although for some reason I can see myself ending up at this with depressing inevitability.
But I'm hoping not.
It causes me misery just to think about it though. :(
you were having fun though!! Till you lost stuff..
LOADS last time. Do you mean actually afford it though?
I'm glad I provided some amusement, if only I had memory of how and why. :(
Tom, I'm scared.
and you KNOW IT.
We really should avoid this at all costs though, shouldn't we?
I think it's dangerous for the both of us to be in that building at the same time.
is actually us in a situation where jack and coke isn't a viable option.
Let's look at the facts;
Insomniac's Ball - We drank wine - you can't remember it, I passed out
Truck - we only had honey ouzo. You got very drunk, I was sick.
Any other time we've been out;
Jack and coke has been an option, we have had FUN.
What you're saying is, if we drink jack & coke, how can we go WRONG?
(Also; smuggling in vodka in a shower gel bottle should be avoided.)
And yes, that's what I'm saying. However, I fear I am already hatching smuggling plans.
as the last one, despite being a bit crap, was one of those rare occasions.
I didn't pay to get in last time though.
that's what we're trying to blag this time... I'm poor at the moment.
If I can get some, I'll let you know.
will let you know how we do :)
I may do if I don't. The drinks are cheaper this time, apparently. And Young Knives! Art Brut! Foals! Yay.
and it was good, but a bit scatty. The prices for beer were outrageous. but we're all split up into different unis this time so I've trying to find out who to go with but I don't know if we can be bothered.
Mr. Brainlove's shingdig looks like fun, though.
Which is like what, £5 a pint. Cheap, yeah...
...not the promoters whats charged on the bar
Still a lot cheaper than last time
will pay in most bars.
Geez you're a curmudgeon.
object to paying silly amounts of money for drinks. At gigs it's ok but all-nighters, where the main point is to drink lots it's ridiculous. Especcially hate the way they sell bottles instead of draft in most of these places so they can charge £3 or whatever for about half the amount of alcohol and not seem like total
I know it isn;t the promoters fault or anything.
seeing as students are probably gonna take up most of the crowd at this kinda thing, and will probably just decide to get pissed first/smuggle drink in or just buy a couple of drinks.
if they made things cheaper, I'd drink WAY more, and probably spend more on the bar! Venues are silly.
Whenever I got to the Buffalo Bar (£3 bottles) I don't drink ANYTHING or I go to wetherspoons first. Same with the Koko.
Even the Academy group are better than this and they're supposed to be all evil, you get a PINT of Guiness for £3.20 which is...ok I guess.
but you won't find many bars in London where a bottle of beer is cheaper than £2.50. For a big concert venue, that's cheaper than most.
If you object to paying £2.50 for a bottle of beer in London then you're not going to drink many bottles of beer in London.
I think they quite often don't sell draught at these places because people get drunker and it's easier to spill.
but it's just easier to say £3 a bottle than £5 a pint isn't it? Sounds less of a rip off. Usually they are plastic bottles too and taste horrible.
is usually a nightclub and they don't often sell pints because when people are dancing and not quite on the planet, bottles make less of a mess. Giving them a pint is a bad idea.
"Below 6°C (44°F), a keg of draft beer should last 20-30 days before it loses its fresh brewery taste and aroma."
I'm convinced it's a conspiracy
You wont get thru the keg in 20-30 days
When a bar only sells bottles its because they're only open a couple of nights a week. If a venue/bar/club is only open a few nights a week, theres no point in having draught because it ends up going off between nights. So it works out a lot better having bottles coz obviously they wont be left open and wont go off within a few days.
Its a lot more expensive for the venues to do it this way and so ends up more expensive for customers. Thats why pubs are so much cheaper....open every day so can use draught.
Just a general observation from working in venues for the past few yrs.
