anyone else getting excited? I hope it's good.
I'll probably watch it.
now Caroline Aherne's off the DRUGS.
I am really looking forward to this. Apparently they finally got around to destroying the set last year, so had to build it again from scratch, including nicotine-staining the walls...
it'll be bad. baaad. trust me.
smelled anyway, so what've I got to lose. I hope it's not really really gash.
but "skin colour not essential" made me laugh out loud.
The Full Monty??
Johnny Cash is saving it.
did they sing all the fucking time?
that was so sad. i'm actually very upset.
off very slowly. But got better at the end.
I did actually cry. It was the music. Very, very sad.
Even by Royle Family standards.
The idea of doing it episodically was interesting - not sure if it worked or not. Some absolutely great moments - my favourite was probably the bit with Jim and Anthony, where Jim says how proud he is of him only to go on and shout at him for being a greedy little git.
But overall it lacked the good heart that always made the show so great. This episode seemed much more bitter and cynical and that just made me sad.
Jim and Barbera about the batteries was also pretty funny. When he took it out on David. Also the bit where Jim and Norma were having fun together.
And then the hospital bit was very very sad. Especially David and Jim crying. And the music. THE MUSIC.
It felt like watching me Dad cry...
I had to stop myself from crying. It was a bit confusing it not being in 'real time', but it worked pretty well.
"He's a Pakistani...but he's very open about it" made me lol.
he looked SO much like him!
since when has nana been the central character, that everyone loves?!?!
not much was funny really. which is a bit depressing to be honest :(
they had soup of the day, which was Friday.
I actually want to watch the old ones now. antiques roadshow one was a classic.
written believeably and sensitively, acted brilliantly, funny, touching.
I cried a lot. And then again this morning just from thinking about it.
when Nanna told Barbara that she "Loved her really". And when they all were crying over Nanna's hospital bed. Craig Cash looked really fucked up.
when she asked her to cut her toenails, and how her face changed when she thanked her. Oh!
a lot of the gags seemed a bit too set up and didnt really work but i was won over by the second half, i thought it was a fitting ending, are they having a new series? i hope they dont.
Mary: What were her final words Barbara
Barbara: Trevor MacDonald
Mary: Oh, what a fitting tribute to the man
