Which would you prefer?
you close your eyes more often than your ears
I remember once having this conversation with a friend, and he said he'd rather be deaf, as if he was blind he wouldn't be able to see the colour of the coloured vinyl he owned.
Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like my HEART COULD BURST.
because then I could still listen to music. Probably most of us will feel like that on here!
However, I've never known anyone who's blind, but I knew someone deaf very well. He's been deaf since birth, speaks two languages fluently (Czech and English), wasn't taught sign language, and lives a very 'normal' life - standard office job, driving etc. Maybe being blind would be harder.
I know it's not the same, but I am very very shortsighted, and have also had numerous ear problems (including having very very bad hearing for over a year when I was a child). The sight thing is a lot easier to rectify and deal with.
if youve been deaf from birth?
i'd be blind, live on disability allowance and make music
i could still make music on my laptop deaf
I think it's easier to find you way in the world generally with sight, rather than hearing, if you know what i mean.
The idea of going blind is quite terrifying.
It would be easier to live than by being blind.
Imagine not being able to see girls
true, possibly, but no
Because i can get a hearing aid. I dont have very good hearing anyway at the moment.
and im an artist and a musician
god help me!
Not hearing the voices of the people I love again is a far worse idea than never seeing them again
so I could still go on DiS!
on here who say that they'd rather be blind cos they couldn't live without music are lying.
of living in darkness for the rest of your life? going anywhere would just become a nightmare, id rather be deaf, i think i could at least cope with that
I could always write books and poems with a little voice thingy on my computer and if I were deaf I wouldn't be able to appreciate Isis or Slint or Botch anymore...it would be truly horrifying.
blind would be the worst thing ever, sorry. i've heard this conversation come up a few times and i'm stunned that people think it's a close call. i could easily live without music and blindness is far more disabling than deafness.
