blokecentric - could you be a house husband

cunt [Edit] [Delete] 59 replies 14:09, 23 October '06

who stays at home and looks after the kids or would that be weird?

A mate of mine is doing it and getting a bit of stick but I think it would be quite cool

  • I'd love to do this.

Although replace "looking after the kids" with "playing Football Manager and leaving the kids to fend for themselves".

    tom_from_sparks | 23 Oct '06, 14:10 | X
  • yes

    i would love to be.

especially if i lived in a cottage in the countryside and had an Aga.

    RockNRollMassacre | 23 Oct '06, 14:10 | X
    • Aga?

      cunt @RockNRollMassacre | 23 Oct '06, 14:10 | X
      • Fixture of rural kitchens

        And ace and rustic

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGA_cooker

        RockNRollMassacre @cunt | 23 Oct '06, 14:12 | X
        • But they take...

about half a day to warm up.

          tom_from_sparks @RockNRollMassacre | 23 Oct '06, 14:13 | X
          • but they're so ace

and i would have 2 dogs, and one of those racks above the kitchen work top with pans on. and flagstone floors with rugs and a garden

            RockNRollMassacre @tom_from_sparks | 23 Oct '06, 14:14 | X
            • ~You really want this

              don't you

              cunt @RockNRollMassacre | 23 Oct '06, 14:15 | X
              • yes

I have weird middle class countryside fantasies. Is that so bad?

                RockNRollMassacre @cunt | 23 Oct '06, 14:17 | X
                • no

                  it's splendid

        • I'm an half house husband

working only the morning and taking care of the kids and the house the rest of the time...

          lyle | 23 Oct '06, 14:11 | X
        • Nah

Kids piss me off after a short while. So by Monday lunchtime I'd have baked them in a pie or something.

          bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:11 | X
          • you monster !

            lyle @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:12 | X
        • I would like to state

that I would have NO PROBLEM with this whatsoever.

Anyone looking for a house husband, let me know. I'm fed up with this 'career' nonsense.

          colonol_k | 23 Oct '06, 14:17 | X
          • ooh, me!

come tidy my house and make me food please?

            nice_squirrel @colonol_k | 23 Oct '06, 14:17 | X
            • and look after your children?

              JezCC @nice_squirrel | 23 Oct '06, 14:19 | X
            • Do you have kids?

              cunt @nice_squirrel | 23 Oct '06, 14:19 | X
            • See, I'm fine with that

I'd put some music on, do some cleaning, cook some food, watch Deal or No Deal.

              Easy peasy.

              colonol_k @nice_squirrel | 23 Oct '06, 14:21 | X
          • I could do that

Just when kids get brought into the equation. I'd feel irresponsible if I was looking after the kids and getting drunk while watching Loose Women.

            bamos @colonol_k | 23 Oct '06, 14:19 | X
            • Loose Women

              the program or actual weomen?

              cunt @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:20 | X
              • *Women

                cunt @cunt | 23 Oct '06, 14:20 | X
                • A bit of both

Loose Women the programme is actually amazing though. Yes it is.

                  bamos @cunt | 23 Oct '06, 14:21 | X
                  • No it's not.

And it's always on at work :-(

                    tom_from_sparks @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:23 | X
                    • It's amazing!

I love it. You just need to embrace your feminine side. You're so macho all the time, it's not a good look on you Tim.

                      bamos @tom_from_sparks | 23 Oct '06, 14:25 | X
                      • Haha

It's some of their voices that wind me up, mainly because I can always hear it but I can't see it.

Pocoyo, now there's a good program.

                        tom_from_sparks @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:28 | X
            • so

come tidy my house and make me food please?

No kids involved, apart from the occasional young ruffians who sit on my roof and throw things at Subway...

              nice_squirrel @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:21 | X
              • Ok

I'm in. Do you earn enough to support us both?

                bamos @nice_squirrel | 23 Oct '06, 14:23 | X
                • you only eat toast, right?

                  so... yes.

                  nice_squirrel @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:26 | X
            • ^^^^ This

It's the kids part of things that worries me. I've never been good with the buggering things.

              TheoGB @bamos | 23 Oct '06, 14:21 | X
              • The Buggering Things?

I don't think you *have* to do that to kids you know. In fact, I think it's kinda discouraged...

                bamos @TheoGB | 23 Oct '06, 14:23 | X
              • Don't bugger them!!

                cunt @TheoGB | 23 Oct '06, 14:23 | X
        • i too would love to do this

          its my ideal career!

Aga's are ace, could do manly things like chop wood and things for that too.

just need to find a rich wife to keep me in tea, biscuits and cd money...

          Brooner | 23 Oct '06, 14:21 | X
          • AGAs suck a bit though

my friend had one, and they make your house so hot in the summer!

            nice_squirrel @Brooner | 23 Oct '06, 14:22 | X
            • well depends where you are

i've only come across them in old farmhouse type places in scotland where its never hot anyway!

              Brooner @nice_squirrel | 23 Oct '06, 14:24 | X
              • yesss

                i need to get married

                RockNRollMassacre @Brooner | 23 Oct '06, 14:29 | X
              • generally speaking

the number of men who will have the opportunity to do this will be very small. why would women give up their monopoly on the inalienable right to watch daytime TV and complain about the amount of fat in semi-skimmed milk?

                • To get a job

so they're not wholly reliant on their husband's salary?

                      • i'm serious

i think i loathe women, to be honest. i hate men too, though.

              • this would be my ideal job

i love cooking, cleaning doesn't bother me too much and i'm good with kids.

who wants to marry me and settle down?

                • Kind of

By the time I have kids, I aim to be working from home 6am-noon, leaving the afternoons as free as possible to do what I want, including spending time with the kids.

                • A

friend of mine does part time hours so that he can look after their son whilst his other half does a full day. I could happily do that, I think. I'd put family above work any day of the week. Mrs Judge earns a helluva lot more than me anyway, I think if we got to that position that this is something we'd have to consider

                  Judge_B | 23 Oct '06, 14:57 | X
                  • I don't

                • It's my career path for sure

Find a rich woman, become a kept man.

I am good at cooking and everything.
