  • Some fireworks are just going off here...

There were some big bangs at the Argyle game, at the time I thought it was another of Holloways unorthodox tactics but then remembered about Divali, although during the day? I never did find out the cause.

I went to a great Divali fireworks display in Leicester a few years ago.

  • oh

i wondered why they were going off...i thought it was just the local youth getting antsy...

      • oh yeah

they fast don't they? i offered this guy in my seminar a polo he said he couldn't because he was fasting...

        doubtful @Mr_JDTraynor | 21 Oct '06, 22:52 | X
        • You are getting confused with...

Ramadan which is an Islamic practise and finishes in 2 days.

          tom_from_sparks @doubtful | 21 Oct '06, 22:54 | X
          • ah

right...oops just exposing my global ignorance of religion...oh dear. thanks for that.

            doubtful @tom_from_sparks | 21 Oct '06, 22:56 | X
          • it doesn't necessarily

finish in two days. so there

            JacobJones @tom_from_sparks | 21 Oct '06, 23:27 | X
            • it finishes when moonchester appears

and says it's ok to finish.

        • Er, yes

or, he saw it as a chat up line and decided on a diplomatic response.

          Mr_JDTraynor @doubtful | 21 Oct '06, 22:56 | X
          • Hmmm

maybe...i don't think that people actually use 'would you like a polo?' as a chat up line though really? do they?

            doubtful @Mr_JDTraynor | 21 Oct '06, 23:00 | X
            • Did your parents never tell you

to not accept sweets from strangers?

              Mr_JDTraynor @doubtful | 21 Oct '06, 23:01 | X
            • Maybe the polo

              symbolizes something else...

              tom_from_sparks @doubtful | 21 Oct '06, 23:03 | X
              • thats

just wrong...i'll never be able to look at polo's in the same way ever again ... :(

                doubtful @tom_from_sparks | 21 Oct '06, 23:07 | X
              • "Getting your hole"

is a sick, perverted euphemism. I never knew such a phrase existed until my Irish friend used it. I wonder if it has anything to do with polos?

                Wiggles @tom_from_sparks | 21 Oct '06, 23:24 | X
                • it's hardly a euphemism

                  it's well rude

                  ex_cynic @Wiggles | 21 Oct '06, 23:55 | X
  • Its also the end of Ramadan

do you think any of the fierworks are let off by muslims to celebrate this.....what I didnt realise is that they cant even drink water between sunrise an sunset.....seems a bit harsh, specially when Ramadan falls in the hot months with long days
