They really know how to pick the one to keep back as the mystery guest!
Great episode I thought. Really apt, low-key ending for the series. Superb breaking of the fourth wall at the very end as well.
Overall not as good as series 1 but still awesome. Only Arrested Development has kept it from being the best thing on TV at the moment.
Robert Lindsay pwned all and Merchant wumping under the table was beautiful :' )
anyone else see a poster in the back with THEO written on it? : D
The bit when he told the kid to fuck off was comedy gold. Gold, I say!
Breaking the fourth wall is the act of fictional characters referencing or otherwise interacting with elements of the universe of their creator and/or audience.
An example of this would be Wile E. Coyote holding up placards communicating with the viewer.
Nice techincal answer
Wot him said
when did that happen in extras?
she prefered the grittier comedy seen on BBC2
She needs to work on her annoucation, I couldn't understand what she said there
Just re-watched the ending via the joy of Sky plus, and I didn't see any evidence of the 4th Wall being broken.
Someone please explain
I think that was more a self-referencial joke.
A 4th wall break would have been if she had said "I prefer the grittier comedy on BBC 2 - like this show", before winking at the camera.
where Andy's (is that his name? I haven't been watching it) interview with Ross was cut from Gervais' actual interview with Ross?
Or is that called something else? Or was i just imagining i'd seen that whole scene before?
least favourite A&J song though
the DVD this morning, whilst in bed feeling sorry for myself. Tis ace! Ahh I really like it though! It's a great song!
WHAT AN EXCITING COINCEDENCE!!!!!!!!!!!
= the best thing on telly ever
"I'm mentally ill!"
Mark E. Smith is a crazy, crazy man.
Vinyl Justice is ace though! :D
LIEK NO WAI!!!! :D
was the performance of the entire series. so so good, and as someone ^ there said his dance routine followed by insulting the kid was absolutly brilliant, some line like "your kid doesn't know comedy" was amazing. <3.
Is it any coincidence that the best cameos in Extras have been from RSC 'thespians'?
Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and now Robert Lindsey.
Shakespere = Comedy, apparently.
i thought it was going to be a shocking episode from the horrible smug intro with Gervais on the jRoss show, but it picked up.
there was no slow motion scene with jr and gervais jumping up and down with boyish smiles on their faces though - that would have been perfect.
I noticed that too. It looks different probably because it was shot with the second unit, using different or modified equipment.
Plus, he's Robert De Niro! He's got gravitas. That was his aura you were seeing there.
De Niro wumping over the pen surely?
Ricky Gervais walks into the hotel room. De Niro is bent over a counter furiously whacking it to the pen. Their eyes meet. De Niro starts to say "It's not what it looks like", but Gervais is already gone, tears in his eyes. The last words De Niro hears are "...no more heroes..."
That was what I was hoping for.
although I guess it would have been too obvious
a fucking brilliant episode. It's bizarre the aura that De Nior has. Despite the fact he's ugly as fuck he looked like a mega-star. Whereas Merchant, looked, well, normal.
and walk around going "I'm Robert Fucking De Niro"
That's what I'd do if I was rich
(and robert de niro)
Merchant looks normal. (no offence Steven if you're reading this)
like some sort of bug/human hybrid
everyone he stands next to
met him in a clothes shop in Bristol a couple of days ago and said he was a huge and lovely, not a lanky goggle eyed freak.
but agree that bit was a bit dis-jointed.
Robert lindsay was superduper.
it just seemed a bit like a scene they liked that they were trying to get in somewhere and it was a bit out of place.
Still I did like the episode. I thought it was a good ending, I liked that it didn't wrap everything up nicely. I'm sure they have something else planned for it.
how her life hadn't moved on - it was very much in the style of what happened to her in the first series but we hadn't seen much of it in this series.
being the scene with the guy's parents
