  • It's quite normal

if you've just started. People get homesick or want the comfort of what they're used to for a couple of days.

    colonol_k | 15 Oct '06, 20:46 | X
    • no

they just want to ask more money to their parents...

      lyle @colonol_k | 15 Oct '06, 20:47 | X
      • Cynic!

        colonol_k @lyle | 15 Oct '06, 20:49 | X
        • no

          realistic !
And who will wash your clothes ?

          lyle @colonol_k | 15 Oct '06, 20:50 | X
      • I never went home at uni

and actually spent the last year or so away from home.

I know what you mean though... one of my mates used to go home the first day of a holiday and back on the day before we got back.

I always used to think IT'S NOT A HOLIDAY CAMP YOU FUCKER either be here or don't.

Pffft. Uni is an encompasing experience, not a day trip to the Villi.

        BITCHES

        moker @lyle | 15 Oct '06, 20:50 | X
        • encompasing experience ?

          Not in my memories...
But french uni is so different from english uni that i'm nearly jealous !

          lyle @moker | 15 Oct '06, 20:51 | X
          • What's different in France?

            colonol_k @lyle | 15 Oct '06, 20:57 | X
            • too long to explain...

              lyle @colonol_k | 15 Oct '06, 22:23 | X
        • going home in the holidays?

that's not quite what doubtful meant surely?

          ex_cynic @moker | 15 Oct '06, 22:55 | X
  • they probably just hate you

    alcxxk | 15 Oct '06, 20:50 | X
    • :(

      ...i hope not

      doubtful @alcxxk | 15 Oct '06, 20:51 | X
      • I know people who

come back every weekend to work at the jobs they had before they went. Which is just odd...

        Jesus_Quintana @doubtful | 15 Oct '06, 20:58 | X
        • makes sense though

can keep in touch with home mates and be in a better job with more money (most likely) rather than starting from scratch.

          ex_cynic @Jesus_Quintana | 15 Oct '06, 22:55 | X
  • Hmmm

it's natural to be homesick I guess. Especially if you still have close friends at home. I went home a fair bit in my first time (not as often as that though) just because I still knew lots of people around at home and London is generally great. It is best to just stay put though from my experience.

    Thom_fa | 15 Oct '06, 21:03 | X
    • first time = first term

      Thom_fa @Thom_fa | 15 Oct '06, 21:03 | X
  • I didn't go home at all during my first year of uni

I worked every weekend and partied very hard!
Your flatmates friends will learn soon enough that going home is NOT all that.

    Hannah82 | 15 Oct '06, 21:59 | X
    • yeah

i hope they realise that soon...its no fun here alone...i have to go and actively seek people out. or go out alone and meet people but i'd rather have people here i could sit and have few drinks with in the evening...

      doubtful @Hannah82 | 15 Oct '06, 22:25 | X
  • i didnt go home

newcastle was a lot better than where my home is

in fact i wish i was still living there now

    soapy | 15 Oct '06, 22:08 | X
  • i have

the opposite problem. my parents keep coming to visit me. i hate it.

    harru @Pigfoot | 15 Oct '06, 22:56 | X
    • I've been here

4 weeks and not gone home yet, I think I'm the only one who hasn't. My parents have come here twice but mainly cause I had forgotten stuff!!! I don't plan on going back till nov but thats only cause I'm gonna see muse and dont wanna sleep on a train station all night!!

      trainsandplanes @Pigfoot | 15 Oct '06, 23:46 | X
    • pfft

You don't have to go home. I didn't go home until christmas in my first year. Of course, every other semester I ended up flying to Norway and back a total of 34 times.

I barely went home at all when I was at uni.

I'm from the south...the northern guys I lived with were fucking mummies boys- off home every other weekend to eat something that didn't begin with the word 'super'
