Everybody Loves Raymond.
King Of Queens.
8 Simple Rules.
Malcolm In Tne Middle.
The Mighty Boosh.
From that list, America win. I've probably left out some.
Suppose if you're american, you prefer american comedy, and vice versa. Comedy is art, and art reflects life, and all that.
Irish comedy wins, just for Father Ted alone.
some love for King Of Queens. Raymond is bollocks though. Family Guy and American Dad are the same thing, and that thing isn't funny.
You missed South Park.
How can you have love for King Of Queens, but none for Raymond? It's the same bloody show!
...and Raymond is better, at any rate. If only for the brother character.
the brother is brilliant, if i was a man i'd want his voice
Raymond doesn't have Arthur Spooner.
Also, Raymond's parent's relationship is a little too fucked up for it to be funny, Raymond constantly acts like he's playing to the cameras rather than acting in a sitcom, and the supporting cast are shit. Robert's okay occasionally.
In KOQ, the only bad supporting character is Deacon, everyone else is actually funny.
If Arthur Spooner is the dad, he's nowt but a cut rate Frank Costanza. And there are few supporting characters greater than Frank Costanza.
Jerry Stiller, Ben's dad. And he plays the same character in everything I've seen him in. So I suppose we agree?
and I won't hear otherwise.
that was so crappy but quite amusing...for the wrong reasons
that list america lose considerably.
league of gentlemen
the young ones.... yeah british comedy is the best by far
one and two of course were the best...but the guy who played Ewan in series 4 was so cute...
YOu're so wrong. If Seinfeld hadn't won it for the yanks single-handedly, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Frasier, The Simpsons and Scrubs put the result beyond doubt.
This is trut' so, so pure.
say i've ever watched seinfeld or curb your enthusiasm. Frasier is moderately amusing, the simpsons is a bit passe and scrubs is way over rated...i do like zack braff a lot though.
I wouldn't recommend watching Seinfeld. It could be quite distressing to find that all your favourite gags from all your favourite sitcoms came from that show first and were in fact, quite a bit better.
i'm not gonna bother don't worry...but i don't think any american comedy comes even close to topling monty pythons humour or blackadder. they stand alone.
that is true.
[plays slap bass of superior knowledge]
superior knowledge necissarily just 'more' knowledge.
...no, I've done research - it's superior. And it's slap bass - the most the number one most unfairly maligned musical technique by Indie kids. Numbers two and three being 'shredding' and 'blastbeats' respectively.
then *stands aside to let stealthy through*
No, no, I'm not done! [seranades Doubtful with some more beautiful slap bass]
the opening bassline to Take The Power Back stuck in my head....
BRING THAT SHIT IN! [rocks out... tastefully]
even though i'm american. most modern american comidies suck. and we have started copying comedies from you (the office and the short lived couples, i think it was called). you guys have a way more sophisticated sence of humor. we barely get past sex and potty humor
No matter how many 'The War At Home's you inflict on the universe, that will always be outweighed by the numerous superior sitcoms that have gone before. Now if you can get your networks to stop cancelling those sitcoms, you'll have a good system working there.
but the the crappy shows stay becouse they have the humor that appeals to most americans. there are some good comedies this year, but they are gettign horrible ratings. american sitcoms used to be amazing. but now, networks are desperate to keep ratings up, so they cut anything that isn't an initial succes
is fucking terrible, pretentious, terrible, terrible wank. i fucking hate it. agh. die frasier. die you prawn-eating high-end stuck-up scum. die.
friends is fucking ruined because they insist on having canned laughter every five seconds.
i've not seen any seinfeld, so can't comment.
however, curb your enthusiasm is really really really good... it's about the same sort of rich american society as frasier is, but i find myself genuinely sympathising with larry david, rather than wanting him to jump off a cliff and FUCKING DIE (like frasier and his wizened idiot brother niles).
fucking frasier. NO.
