Work can be a daft place sometimes...
One of the departments for the charity where I work, want a sign for their office saying 'Welcome to Information Systems'. Now, someone in this department went to the trouble of actually typing up the sign, and sent it to another department that deals with creative elements of the society. Then, someone in the creative block booked an appointment with my boss to discuss making a sign.
Now, does this seem a bit...pointless? It's a sign for god's sake. It actually exists in a form on someone's computer on IS, so why the hell couldn't they just print it out, get it laminated and it would be done in about 5 minutes. I mean, isn't this just a waste of time? Surely, they can't be that busy up there? It actually took longer for the person from the creative section to stroll over to my department and talk to my boss about the sign, when really she could have made it herself in about a minute. I mean, it's not that difficult to type out a sign is it? It's not like they wanted it all jazzed up either. Talk about barmy.
I thought as a charity organisation, we would try and cut out wasting people's time and resources like this?
Sorry, bit of a rant...this did make us all chuckle though. Similar odd/daft experiences anyone?
do you work for
the RSPCA? they are useless.
''this did make us all chuckle''
I'm glad I dont work where you do. That would make me ANGRY.
well,
we were kinda angry, but for some reason a couple of us found it amusing. My boss wasn't happy though.

Oh, the usual. I got delivered pile of crap a while ago dealing with the "company colours" and what each colour signifies. Which to me is so redundant that it's almost satirical.
Yet, no-one cares when I insist the CMYK value for these company colours should remain constant. Oh no, then any red'll do...
the best one though,
is when we edit or type up a document for someone then send it as an e-mail attachment to them and the reply we sometimes get back:
"thanks, blah blah...could you make the following changes" and they will be things like :
"add a full stop here" or "there is an unusual space here" (it’s a tab)
"Could you make these changes please?"
