Blaspheming/Swearing.

Ceraaa [Edit] [Delete] 25 replies 11:09, 11 October '06

Do you do these? How often? Around children? The elderly? Your family!?

I got told off for saying "For god's sake". Gotta love being in college.. ¬_¬

    • I had Mclusky's 'Gareth Brown Says" as my ring tone for a while

I decided to change it after it went off at head level of some kids while in my bag's mobile phone pocket and scared them half to death...and then on a train and on a bus, both times getting me very dubious looks.

(For social pariahs who don't know Mclusky Do Dallas off by heart, the song opens immediately with the line "All of your friends are cunts...")

    • With family: hardly ever

      With friens: all the time
      At uni: all the time
      At work: quite a lot

I can see a pattern emerging.

    • I think I swear a bit too much

Well, more than most of my friends seem to anyway. I don't think there's anything wrong with swearing I just think that if you do it too much it dilutes the effect when you really feel the need to swear.

Mostly I say 'Shit'. I don't think I blaspheme very often, but that isn't for any moral reason. Know what I fucking mean?

    • family - never

for the reason that when I was about 16 I was fighting with my sister and shouted at her to fuck off, my Dad came in and whacked me round the head so hard I was nearly knocked out.

So, violence = my lesson learned.

I don't swear hardly ever anywhere really...I think it sounds rough and horrible especially when kids do it.

      • i swear in front of mum,

        but she hates it.

my dad loves swearing tho! i remember being small and him saying to me, "i dont mind you swearing, as long as you know what it means". gotta love them hippies!

    • not

around mt grandparents...but recently after having hit 18, yes i do swear around my parents and in public in front of small children...with my friends quite a bit too. although my parents do tell me off and refuse to talk to me till i have 'anything nice to say', so what if i was calling blair a bastard they don't like him either

      doubtful | 11 Oct '06, 11:16 | X
    • I don't.

      Unless under extreme circumstances.

      fionapinkstars | 11 Oct '06, 11:19 | X
    • I think that you tend to grow out of it.

And besides, when you only swear occasionally, it has much more impact than if you just use it as an adjective to pad out a sentence.

    • I never do in front of my family

or at work. I swear a fair amount in front of friends though, which people seem to be surprised by sometimes - I'm not sure why!

I don't like censoring of language - I get irritated by people who use some swearwords and are pious about others. Sometimes, there is a need to call someone a cunt.

      • Can you stop saying cunt please?

        Thanks!

        yo_soy_welshmun @nice_squirrel | 11 Oct '06, 12:01 | X
        • Cunt off

          You censoring cunt.

            • Shocking isn't it?

It's like the Sex Pistols on the Grundy show all over again. I'm going to put a boot through my TV set.

              • you filthy rotter

                nice_squirrel @colonol_k | 11 Oct '06, 12:06 | X
                • Heh

Steve Jones = best use of the word 'rotter' ever.

      • I say Cunt

way too much. So much so it deserves a capital C.

        Ceraaa @nice_squirrel | 11 Oct '06, 12:05 | X
    • If

I had ever sworn at home, I would have had my throat ripped out and handed to me.

I've watched Saints play with my mum before, she tells me not to hold back but I just can't swear in front of her. It does result in a lot of shouts of "Blinkin' referee!" and "The custodian is an idiot", etc.

      • breastfuck

        I swear a bit...

it REALLY pisses me off that 'cunt' is supposed to be some magical 'worst of all the swearwords'. What utter bollocks. Who the fuck decided that. Just an ancient viking word for a vagina or something...

Hence I do use the word cunt quite often. Only recently said it to a youngish person who seemed shocked. What the fuck was wrong with her, the cunt?
