London Fun

ladyoftheflowers [Edit] [Delete] 33 replies 15:34, 9 October '06

a plea for help from the London contingent:

soon, it is my friend's birthday, who is currently at uni in london. I can't make her official birthday do, so I promised to go up for a day (a friday, if you're interested). I want to treat he, partly for her birthday and partly because she is one of my bestest friends EVAH. But money is an issue - are there any fun and cheap places to have a daytrip in london? I was thinking somewhere tourtisy, possibly, as she's unlikely to have done that stuff yet, having only live there a few weeks.

Many thanks!

And yes, I di plan to take her on one of those annoying open top red buses :)

    • a lot of the museums are free

the science museum was it was fun the last time i went there about.. um.. 10 years ago.
      natural history museum = DINOSAURS!!!

also, there are boatrides down the thames from westminster all the way to greenwich, they're really nice. it doesn't cost much and you get a discount if you have some sort of london travelcard, although it iss weather-dependent obviously..

Museums (all the major ones are free)
      Camden/Portobello/Brick Lane market
London Zoo (bit pricey, but might be cheaper for students)

i went this summer... I think its 10 quid with an NUS which is a bit pricey... but id still say it was probably worth it. :)

I think I saw in the paper today that they've got a big super fast slide in the big hall. It's free, so just go there for the slide and then go to the pub

Mad with jealously. You went to London for buffet fun. Perfect.

                          • sorry

I've been eating loads of tomato sauce out of the bottle.

                            marilyninthesky @marilyninthesky | 9 Oct '06, 16:08 | X
                            • oh yea the name...

Er I don't know...something Thai. If you go to Soho Square where there's an endangered park , it's right by there. Normally the workers are outside the place inviting/pulling people in anyway...

                              marilyninthesky @marilyninthesky | 9 Oct '06, 16:09 | X
                        • The buffetplace is called Helen?

                          That's odd.

                          bobbygeorge @ladyoftheflowers | 9 Oct '06, 16:08 | X
                          • the best thing about the buffet is the workers

They haven't got the normal shifty eye, so you can scramble however much buffet into your handbag (bring a large one), then have a muffdive thai buffet midnight feast!
