Cleared of tampering, but guilty of bringing the game into disrepute. Hmmmmm.
i was literally about to post that
that Hair is back umpiring.
Surely if Inzamam is cleared of tampering then Hair was wrong to act the way he did.
if he'd kept his toys in the pram, played on, and appealed afterwards, as he should have according to the rules of the game, there would have been no punishment.
Playing on after being accused of cheating is an admission of guilt - and he was cleared of cheating. This makes no sense.
I think Inzamam was left with little option.
He was (wrongfully) accused of cheating, he (understandably) protested. Now he's punished for it. What a crock.
So is Hair still an international umpire then considering he's such a cock?
he's been named to umpire in India. Considering the way he's behaved throughout this scandal, I wouldn't be disappointed if he never umpired any level of Cricket again.
He should be struck off
I feel a bit sorry for Inzamam, although part of me also thinks that the honourable way to deal with it would have been to have played on and appealed afterwards, which would have prevented such a farce. They were clearly going to win that Test anyway.
if Pakistan didn't get accused of cheating every time they came to England. Seriously, it's getting boring now.
Can't say for certain without knowing what the ICC's rules are. In fact, the fact that he got the minimum punishment suggests to me that he broke the rules in a technical sense but the adjudicator didn't think what he did was particularly "wrong".
Besides, if anyone brought cricket into disrepute in that match, it was Hair.
