god i am so tierd, need sleep and reeal meal also and less booze may help...anyone in the same boat???
dont care. vodka will be my downfall, i feel sick.
basically. Your body will adapt accordingly.
i'm thinking next week will be better maybe cos i'll know kinda where to go/not to bother with.
as soon as freshers week finishes leaving only the cool cats still out which also means you can actually get to the bar for drinks.
all the nobheads go out with themselves and leave you alone with the REALLY cool cats.
because I was placed in the foreign college and most foreign students were actually there to get a good degree.
foreign people are crap.
Except Poles, they're ok
We left it in the fridge overnight a good 2/3s or a normal size Birthday cake. Next day gone. BLOODY FRENCH. The Greeks set my kitchen on fire aswell. One of my Greek flatmates had a poster saying "NO ENTRY! Unless you have really big boobs!" He was 27.
its been so packed everywhere, maybe some people will drop out too which would help reduce queues lol
some insane oxford brookes students drunkenly stumbled up to a taxi i was in, whilst we were at some traffic lights. they pleeded that we told them where the nearest kebab shop was and how they could get home.
we had a bit of a laugh at them.
i hope it wasnt you.
im sure lots of people will laugh at me when i go to university tomorrow... blerrgghh
wasnt me a few of us went to the cellar to see a gig but we got the bus back.
i was also at the cellar, for the last band and lots of drinking afterwards. i will miss that place.
i'm in manchester and to be honest, it's a bit rubbish at the mo because we don't know where hardly anything is and there's so many places to go that we can never decide. That, and my flatmates aren't really entirely into the same things as me. Hopefully the Indie Society meet up tomorrow will be good *hopes*
is always far too full in september.42bus route.urgh.
for gig's keep an eye on http://www.helpyourselfmanchester.org/
and gigs on at either
The Star & Garter (behind Piccadilly train station) or the Roadhouse. 5th Av and 42s are not the only options regardless of how much people insist.they are wrong. :)
Freshers week sounds crap.
Not going to bother with it.
on all the fun of the one million conversations with people you will never meet again 'yeah i'm from southampton, yeh...doing english...cool yeh. bye.'
'Cos i'm studying art.
for the free stuff.
I am not a fresher. HAHAH
was NO good stuff.
I did see two DiSers though
but yes free stuff, sounds good.
i want to go to gigs instead.
Gigs are better than Freshers week but at Freshers week you meet people!!!
You have to make friends to make the most of Uni!
...to go to said gigs with you, killing two birds with one stone, and finding out if you can tolerate their musical tastes early on in the process.
they're all going to Freshers week. And they probably like Arctic Monkeys.
i get to meet people at gigs too?
But anyway. i'm going more for getting a degree than for the social bit so really i don't think it will be terrible if i miss Freshers (which looks like it's just some crap clubnights and depressing bar crawls anyway.)
i'd rather, for instance, see Turncoat at Pressure Point on Friday night JAG!
and the amount of people I went out with then who were twats is quite high.
But it was good fun, I can't remmeber much of it...
And I did go see gigs as well, Polysics were one that sprung to mind, we just hit the 'indie' clubs afterwards with their freshers week stuff, oh fun times...
Several things struck me about how much I now, 3 years after leaving uni, hate freshers week. They also serve as a worrying insight into how much of a tosser I'm becoming. These are that:
a) moronic (and to be fair, usually young, drunk and asian*) non-students start barracking you for looking slightly student esque and throw chicken bits at you as you walk to work/rehearsal/anywhere "you student bastards, what are you from Yorkshire or something" social integration in action...
b) hyper-indie-snobery wells up in my veins due to the juxtaposition of peoples caused by the newcomers not realising that if they want to listen to Kaiser Chiefs, Hard-Fi and Arctic Monkeys tracks ad finatum, they should be elsewhere, not dirtying the place up. Christ I'm a snob, but you know the people I mean. Arseholes.
c) how many attractive girls are with repulsive blokes. I don't mean ugly blokes, that would be a little harsh, I mean beer-boys vomiting on things, slagging of anyone who looks a little different, starting fights and then being taken home by some ridiculous hotbo. Its wrong
And thats my two cents
* I hope that didn't sound racist, its just a fact. Young inner-city males of middle-eastern/asian decent don't like white boys in skinny jeans apparently. Which is fair enough.
a la one of my best friends?
are only good if he rocks the Crockett from Miami Vice look.
the Andrew WK look.
...as long as you don't throw chicken at me we'll be the best of friends.
...it was just a thought-belch onto the thread really.
for which i am glad. freshers week is crap.
was the most anticlimactic thing ever. art school freshers weeks - bleurgh.
but hopefully by the time it comes around i wont be so grumpy and cynical and i'll just be able to enjoy it because i have to.
you'll have much more fun during the rest of the year. all you'll do during freshers week is get dragged to crap nights called Club TropiSex or something shite by people you realise you hate 2weeks later and then spend more of your student loan than you thought was possible in about 2days.
I spent £600 in the first 2 weeks almost solely on alcohol (and the top gun soundtrack)
