Has anyone seen this then? Is it any good? As good as Eternal Sunshine?
it's ok. not as good as eternal sunshine. bit like an extended michel gondry monologue disguised as a story. nice animation though.
the trailer made me scrunch my face up in disapproval.
kinda tough to get your head around, but it's magical.
change of opinion!
it's much more Gondry's film rather than Kauffmans...
has nothing to do with Science of Sleep...
i just phrased that horribly
what i meant was:
The science of sleep is better than eternal sunshine because it allows Gondry's vision to get through without being overshadowed by Charlie Kaufman.
but really? I think Kaufman is by far the most original and interesting screenwriter currently working at the moment.
Have you seen 'Human Nature'? I haven't but it sounds interesting
one of my favourite films ever. It comes with a really nice comic book written and drawn by Gondry. I love this movie so much!
she made me want to move to paris and find an arty french girl to marry.
unless you want another sophia hate thread.
its better than eternal sunshine...very funny too. gondry at his finest again..if you want one mind fuck of a film try 'Inland Empire'
anyone seen it? i do like it lots
as good as Eternal Sunshine. The central relationship is rubbish. Charlotte Gainsbourg's character is a complete nothing, and Gael Garcia Bernal is far too attractive and charming for the part. It needed someone more... offbeat.
I think Bernal and Gainsbourg seemed more real and engaging, whereas Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet's big star personalities sort of overshadowed the story. I also thought Eternal copped out slightly with a happy ending, whereas Sleep was much more of an open ending which made you think. The relationship between the two central characters was more complex and thus more involving.
is like looking in Michel Gondry's brain-really imaginative, but kinda all over the place. Eternal Sunshine had a much stronger plot. It was harder to care about GGB and CG's characters as they were too self-absorbed.
Erm. Did you watch the same film as me?
they ended up meeting each other again and agreeing to accept each other's faults in the pursuit of a relationship because they both felt it would be worth it. its basically a 'love conquers all' ending
It's out on DVD in a few weeks, I think...
It was too unfocused. I know that's sorta the point... But still, kinda ruins potential for a great movie.
to Eternal Sunshine. Both amazing films, but I really loved Science.
Yeah I've seen Inland Empire. Interesting in many ways, but it left me feeling a little bit cold.
