Good or bad?
i used to do it. but my hair's dead short now.
with these things it can all go bad if you start relying on them, and then cant access them for a day or two...
no wires no fuss
men actually do this?
I thought it was all an indieboy joke.
Good if they do it well I suppose, bad in that, well it's not exctly manly is it?
I straighten my hair with my mini ghds every day. It means I can have long hair without looking like some scruffy twat who doesn't care.
When people say its gay for doing it, it bothers me about as much as slug population levels in Spain.
I might as well wear make up, what with my straight hair and my tight jeans.
If that isn't on POTD highlights with Gary Lineker, I'll be disappointed
It's a truly great one. POTD for sure.
lets look at a replay
think the beauty of it is that the crowd just never saw it coming. He's proven to be a great signing, I'd say
wrightylew had no way of getting back into the game after that
for letting that one in syb?
this angle, zxcvbnm still had a lot of work to do. He kept his head though, and was presented with an open goal. I'm not sure you can blame the defence when confronted with attacking of this style
its just, because woman did it first that makes people think its girly, when really its not.
Nothing wrong with that! ;)
NME band 'heroes' I have are The Libertines.
And the Libertines look fucking ace, so yes! I'm gonna rip their style because I love it!
It's good to have a style, whatever it might be.
You can call it following trends or whatever, but every single person is following some sort of trend in the end, really.
from Stephen Hawking
Tweed jackets, button-down collars, brogues, cords etc. He's utterly style-obsessed, trust me.
call me buck
don't wash my hair for weeks on end. You couldn't straighten it with a steamroller.
Now THAT, I think you'll find, is manly
he sounds like Biffa Bacon's dad
i don't, but having really curly hair can be a fucking nightmare unless you actually want it cropped almost to your skull as it's rilly rilly difficult to try and look vaguely smart.
i don't straighten mine though as i'm a lazy bastard, although since i got it cut it's stopped ringletting quite so badly and i quite like it now.
I know someone who does because he hates how his emo fringe curls.
that a friend of mine does it
Loads of people ask me if I do it, but I just have the straightest hair evaaah
the least subtle post ever
He's not on the internet at the moment so I can say what I like and he'll never know! :o)
But I think you're right.
He does straighten that emo fringe though! ;o)
Not that I'd need to do it.
But hair is already dead when it comes out of your scalp, so it makes no difference.
And nothing will ever make me want to straighten it.
I don't even slightly care if people do straigten though.
is buying a hairdryer and a barrel brush to get his fringe to do what he wants it to do. Is that on a parallel to straightening. I like it, it doesn't matter but it gives you something to tease them about..
And this one should be on POTD2 with Adrian Chiles
If you're amused at something which is basically saying 'He's gay', you dont have good sense of humour.
To SCL, I use a hairdryer and a brush thingy on my hair. It makes it much straighter.
like OUCH and stuff
I've had it done before because someone asked me if they could do it, but I wouldn't do it myself.
is that we can just wear a pair of jeans, throw on a t-shirt, not bother brushing our hair and walk out the house without getting stared at? DONT CHANGE THE STATUS QUO ITS GOOD I DONT WANT TO END UP USING BLUSHER
I can't be arsed with all that effort stuff.
is paying to have your hair chemically straightened or 'relaxed'. i was told that it was like dying your hair and it would just grow out eventually. mine lasted about 8 days.
that's good to know, i thought about that then saw the price and ran away.
i got it done at the same time as having black highlights put in. it cost me about 70 quid in total. absolutely awful.
what the hell can be highlighted by black?
was limitted to the mighty boosh
that my mum just gave me her portable morphy richards straightners, but at the end of the day its not how or what you do to our hair its how it looks at the end of it.
I need portable ones for Leeds.
My hair is gonna look dreadful after 2 days.
ourselves lucky that we are not faced with everyday problems such as that and we can afford to talk about insignificant subjects as this
and you don't even know what i do. what im trying to say is that we are not faced with scenaio similar to WW2 we only have to worry about george bush and all those terrorist problems etc...
generation gap is just getting wider and wider, zxcvbnm.
Hair straighteners? I ask you!
if it makes them look/feel better than go for it.
unless they're doing it to get emo hair. in which case don't.
that's the only kind of hair it works on? That or generic indie haircut #1
It works on all haircuts that are pretty long. My hair is more or less pretty short, but its thick. Straightening it just makes it look tidy.
whilst doing it? Sure, if she lets me
emo hair is great.
was a little bit curly, so it didn't look like I straightened it.
so I don't bother. also It takes too long, cause my hairs thicker than a bear's fur..... I don't have that much of an issue with men doing it, its almost the norm right about now....
my hair is straight for the first few inches then just flicks up like a lunatic
That was a wig...
once or twice a day, otherwise it looks gash. To be honest it's such a fucking hassle but I require a big floppy fringe to hide my freakishly large forehead. I've never got to much shit for it - the wonderful residents of Reading tend to take exception to what I wear instead.
curliness rules. Hair straighteners? I don't even wear deodorant.
curly hair is awesome.
so is straight.
but not straightened curly hair.
just eat a bit of toothpaste and run the tap for a bit. no-one would ever notice.
is manly and has the same effect as three minutes of teeth brushing. Fact.
I'm hideously, hideously vain but surely you should add moistouriser (sp? argh I can't think today) to that list - I mean having skanky dried out, flaking skin isn't exactly attractive.
But then I guess most sub-cultural styles take a bit of doing.
Moisturiser etc is allowed. Things that make a person feel nice are fine, within reason, and as long as the result isn't peculiar. But hair straightening... there's just something a bit.. plastic about it.
'cause I have really thick white boy afro hair that just waves and curls and looks shit.
so some thinning + straightening = manageable.
I have the ones that work on wet hair so they double up as a hairdryer (and make an impressive sizzling sound) :)
i wanted them but figured sizzling my already over bleached/dyed/producted head might just realise my grandmas prophecy of 'it'll all fall out'
are they good?
they seal moisture in, so they make it softer rather than dryer, I find
I do have a lot of hair to play with (sheer amount-wise rather than length-wise ), though.
absolutely brilliant invention. I go from showered and dripping to dressed with straight hair in under 10 minutes
some lovely pink travel straighteners on a hot deal at £10 off - down to £14.99 from 9th October - when it's gone it's gone...!
Woolworths - straighteners for boys too.
i shave my head twice a week then i straighten my imaginary hair with my imaginary straighteners, does that make me a real man?
Is that the new Woolies tag line? "woolworths: Straighteners for boys too"
Just seems like a lot of effort really. And blokes who straighten their hair generally look like pricks. (Sorry in advance to anyone who may have confessed to doing so on this thread as I haven't read it)
i'm sure you haven't...
i started a thread with an actual meaning rather than something stupid and worthless. this is the begining of a whole new chris.....i promise.
i was making a statment
so people would see it and not sift through other comments. It would have been pointless to have put in the middle of 119 posts.
this was to elvrum.
this joke's oooold.
if you replied to your first post, it would appear at the bottom. This does annoy me actually.
not cool, in my eyes. makes me think of those guys from the lost prophets. or mcfly.
pink straighteners :)
But straightening one's hair in general is bad, I think. Quite straight hair, with perhaps a gentle wave here or there to break up the monotony = lovely. Deathly, severely straight hair = the most depressing thing in the world. I speak from experience.
It's worse when men do it though. It just feels intrinsically Wrong, like women shaving their faces, or 11 year old girls wearing push-up bras.
