Does anyone here work for Haringey Borough Council??
not getting any rubbish collections? ;o)
are on strike over changes to their working conditions.
i believe haringey accord (the company) have set a deadline of today to meet demands, before they bring in non-union labour to attempt to resume service.
their job is to collect RUBBISH.
They're clearly in the wrong career if conditions are a concern.
they want to downsize the number of crews out working, basically.
"I'm not working 'til you sack my mate!"
you mean the other way round... oopsie.
industrial dispute currently in progress with accord
And now I can't walk down my street without being bitten by flies! And the stench at the other end of the street is overpowering!
I have more bites in 5 mins walking down my street than I did in a whole week in Bangkok!!!
all i can find is the refuse department's general number - 0208 885 7700. I've never had to deal with anyone there so I don't have any specific contacts, sorry :'(
I'm going to be polite but firm - something needs to be done!
they claim they have a "contingency" plan, in this sort of weather it should really have been implimented by now.
if that fails, email your local councillors (their address would probably be email@example.com and CC in the following:
Should get a response ;o)
Apparently the binmen are complaining about having to empty an additional 6 wheeliebins an hour...
the dispute comes down to the fact that accord want to cut two crews and divvy their work up between the other crews.
I was gonna complain about this today, my street has rubbish everywhere, but me and my smug household recycle so our bin lids are still able to close. Doesn't stop the stink from the neighbours though. Hopefully our friendly neighbourhood fox will be able to help get through some it soon though :)
it must look like a third world city by now.
if even where I live looks like Muswell Landfill
i leave the borough, see what happens. it all grinds to a halt.
as it were. The bin just lingers in my drive being all sad and full and gross :(
"We've got rats the size of small dogs tearing open rubbish bags and scaring old ladies.
