Food 'on the go' with Prole: do djs need sidekicks?

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 17 replies 10:06, 9 August '06

I suddenly realised this morning that I didn't want to put Phil jupitus' head into a cement mixer this morning whilst listening to his 'breakfast show' and I think it was because he doesn't seem to have a sidekick anymore, which led me to think - could this be the answer to making morning radio slightly more tolerable?

SHIT! I've just dropped my Latte whilst juggling with my pret 'little bag of nuts' whilst attempting to elbow out of my way a little old lady who was a tad too dainty to make it onto the 8.15 from Bletchley. BEtter luck next time, Grandma

  • I've noticed this too.

Jupitus is much better without his yes-man. I think Gideon Coe might benefit from one though.

    • Not a yes-man,

just someone to make his show less dull.

      Trumpet @Trumpet | 9 Aug '06, 10:13 | X
  • no they dont

sidekicks are bad bad bad. always results in shit comedy and not choosing music that one dj likes if the other doesnt like it... jupitus evening show where he plays lots of reggae and weird stuff is vaguely enjoyable from what i remember

  • True

Take "Comedy" Dave for example. Then again Moyles on his own is enough to make me want to lie down on the M25.

    • And fall asleep in the traffic jams?

      bamos @colonol_k | 9 Aug '06, 10:36 | X
      • That

power nap I had in the outside lane just past Clacket Lane services the other week was the best I've had for a long time.

        • Mmmmm warm bonnets.

          John_Brainlove @colonol_k | 9 Aug '06, 11:07 | X
          • That sounds

like some sort of bizarre sexual practice.

I'll give you a warm bonnet.

  • yes, seconded

Ross' producer is kind of necessary on the radio show, as he explains things like who the guests are, but he has an unattractive voice. And when they put him on the TV show it was the worst idea EVER, he looked like he wanted to die.

I quite liked Phill Jupitus' producer, is he on holiday?

    • You can still hear him there sometimes.

      Laughing at Jupitus' jokes.

      Trumpet @nice_squirrel | 9 Aug '06, 10:34 | X
    • Steve Wright's

'posse' were particularly embarassing, I seem to recall.

      • well, he invented it, didn't he?

'zoo radio' is ALL HIS FAULT.

Mark and Lard were ace, as they were on equal footing really. Lard's show on his own is better than Mark's though.

        • goid yes - how many afternoons after school were ruined

by Steve Wright in the FUCKING AFTERNOON - Steve Wright in the Mortuary would have been a far more pleasing proposition

Also Chris Evans is to blame for the braying yahing zoe ball types as well. I once heard chris evans hitting something metallic during one of his shows and he said "Do you know what that sound is? Thats the sound of me hitting one of my many awards"

          • mark Riley is incredibly tawdry on his own though

I think 6music have dropped him

            prole-art-threat @prole-art-threat | 9 Aug '06, 12:28 | X
            • really?

I think he's great. Rocket Science and Mint are both brilliantly nerdy.

              nice_squirrel @prole-art-threat | 9 Aug '06, 12:29 | X
              • in practise those two shows should be good

but his voice just irritates me these days and I turn into Mark E SMith and understand why he left him at the Airport during a tour of new zealand
