Looking for a bass player (male or female, 20's) that wants to contribute to the writing process and get completely involved in starting a band.
As far as the music goes, we try to balance reverb, jangle guitars, danceable upbeat rhythms , etc with fuzz, pushed vocals, drone... I guess a mid-point between the feminine and masculine sides of music. A mix of trashy glam, pop, dance, post-punk, goth... a romantic shambles kind of vibe. Bands we like include Deerhunter, Wavves, The Cribs, Swim Deep, Deftones, MBV, Beach Fossils, Japandroids, My Vitriol, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, Suuns, Autolux, Nirvana…. Basically bands that on first listen have a catchy/memorable hook or melody, but have a deeper sound that reveals something with every listen. We want to write strong pop songs with hooks that don’t get buried, and then get a bit weird with the sound on top of that... something the girls will dance to and the guys will come up and check our set-up after the show.
Rough demo of one of the tracks that showcases the lighter/poppier side of things here (home demoed to drum machine just to get something done): soundcloud.com/tobedecidedbandname/tension-of-the-not-yet - Plenty more written but obviously we’d like to get a full band involved in the process before we shape the sound much further.
We will be rehearsing once or twice a week (East/central London) with a view to getting ready to play live as soon as possible. In our other bands we have had extensive live and touring experience, radio play etc. So we're going to commit to this fully and ideally reach a position where however far down the track we can make it a full-time thing. Hence the awesome person bit... we want someone who wants to buy into the band mentality entirely and is fun to be around.
