Hello! ?We’re looking for a guitarist (or even better guitarist/multi-instrumentalist but primarily guitar). Just had an EP published/released by Special Blend Records.
Influences include: Brocken Social Scene, The National, Deerhunter, Arcade Fire, British Sea Power, Death Cab For Cuties, Radiohead, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Twilight Sad, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pixies. Hope that gives you an idea of the kind of direction.
You can hear some tracks at www.specialblendrecords.com under 'releases' and listen to the 'Cassette Revival Therapy EP' by King Bear (that's me). Looking to go in a slightly different direction as this was a very much prescribed sound by the label but that's more of a case of making the music together as a band. Think along the same lines but some tracks a bit dirtier with more fuzz, the odd acoustic, piano track. A hint of a Nick Cave/National influence thrown on top.
We like, vintage valve amps, analogue effects, Zvex/vexter and electro harmonics pedals, Fender Jaguars, Jazzmasters and Tele’s, Gibsons, Gretch etc (have an eversion to Strats). Just not looking for a noodling Ibanez through a digital multi effects board that’s all but if it sounds like your cup of tea then get in touch.
Also we’re looking for commitment and availability/flexibility, ie able to make time to tour if it arises, or go to US to record an album which is actually a potential option in the near future.
