I’m looking for a guitarist who’s in to: Brocken Social Scene, The National, Deerhunter, Arcade Fire, British Sea Power, Death Cab For Cuties, Radiohead, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Twilight Sad, Interpol, Modest Mouse, Yeay Yeah Yeahs, Pixies, Joy Division. Hope that gives you an idea of the kind of direction.
I currently play in a well established band on the London scene, however I am constantly writing material I feel strongly about which doesn’t actually fit the mould of the band I am in so I am looking to start a side project/new band.
I currently make a living out of music and I will be taking this seriously so I am looking at people ready to go places.
Initially once formed we’ll work on new ideas (plenty of tacks in the bag to work on but hopefully we’d organically fuse some new stuff together quickly too) and then get some quality analogue recordings going, push it from there but only playing the best gigs on offer in London (I have contacts with many of the agents having played for them with my current band and they’d give us a head start/foot up the bill)
So I’m looking guitarist who would have the more dominat guitar role or if you like (lead guitar) but I’m looking for some fret-wanking metal head, it’s all about a great sound and intuition of what right for the track! I like vintage valve amps, Vox/Fender/Cornells, zvex/vexter and electro harmonics pedals, fender jazzmaster/jaguars/telecaster (please forgive me but I don’t like strats) Gibsons and Gretches rock too.
If you are interested I have put some very basic home recordings (excuse the drum machine) which I’ve multi-tracked myself of 3 tracks I’ve done in last month, I have tonnes more new material waiting to go but these are a sampler.
www.myspace.com/themarxproject (that’s just a working title)
I’m based in South London, so someone ideally in the same area who can make rehearsals around there.
