New Killers Song

Deltasound [Edit] [Delete] 11 replies 14:40, 15 July '06

anyone got any views on it? anyone else think that Brandon Flowers is trying to sound like some tortured country singer at certain points though the song?

Personally I can take it or leave it, I hate the Killers, but theres really no point fighting it anymore, They're just too big...

  • I've loved them for years

and will remain a fan. Their gig at The Forum three years ago was one of the best I've ever been to... Kitten nod. Haven't heard the new stuff tho.

    • yeah

listening to the song (which isnt that bad in all honesty, might need a few more listens) it seemed like the public would/might turn on them somewhat.

i dunno really, stranger things have happened

      • Possibly the best song I've heard by them actually

actually now i've heard the whole thing, the springsteen influence has gone a bit too far.

check out that little arpeggio guitar riff before the vocals...the last three notes or so are basically the riff from born to run played a bit faster.

the synths + bruce makes it sound like ryan adams rock and roll album, and we all know how well that did (despite it being not too bad).

i agree with an article i read, that bruce's pomp only works because he truly believes it and is actually working class enough for us to believe what he says, whereas the killers are far too glammy and las vegas to really seem to get it.

            • Yeah

the bit where it goes quiet and he sings about "the devils water" or summink is very similar to Born to Run. Still quite like it though.

              • Of course it's going to be a

                'difficult second'
