WHERE DID YOU SEE THEM LAST?!?!
Er, anyway, I've had this idea in my head of a band, except I've not found the physical and aural embodiment of it....if you know what I mean...
So I need your help. The band in my head is very eerie, melancholic, ethereal, and mysterious. Oh yes. Remember the first song from Deloused In The Comatorium? Not Inertiatic ESP, Son et Lumiere (titles possibly wrong because that band is silly). Well that song is very close to what I'm looking for - unfortunately then the album goes down a different road.
The band is also very powerful, with, like, climaxes and stuff. And chiming guitars. Yes, chiming. There may or may not be vocals. Hmmmm...I don't think they're too overbearing....perhaps I'm hearing some falsetto, but nothing overblown or cheesy in the slightest. There is no room for a sense of humour or self-awareness here. I'm not discounting screams, though; they could be in the mix.
I'm listening to Mono now, and they're not a million miles away. When I listen to Washer, by Slint, I always think it's kind of close. Maybe Interview At The Ruins by Circle Takes The Square has elements of it too.
So chaps, have you got any ideas? As a kind of clue, I expect they'll have just played the UK and/or broken up. That seems bizarrely true of every new band I get into. Which is annoying.
