Anyone heard this?
It sounds... pretty stupid. Even though I like Boris a lot.
and i want "Zaireeka".
it sounds a little gratuitious though if they weren't aiming for it to overlap.
i think neurosis did it with one of their albums and then later made a tribes of neurot album youre supposed to play at the same time.
really, really badly. I imagine it won't be available anywhere outside of Japan for fucking ages though. I've been listening to them all day, having read that review; I'd forgotten how incredible Feedbacker is.
^^ Yeah - that a wicked album
I got the first and second Dronevil from Soulseek and though, obviously, you can't play them together as you are supposed to, it doesn't matter too much. As Pitchfork says all the tracks sound cool by themselves, some are ambient - very pretty and others grow to be pretty fucking intense monstrous slabs of feedback - as much as a ripped Mp3 can anyhow. Very cool and one of my favourite avant-Boris records.
...fucking, Boris. I need this album. More than I did when I posted earlier. It sounds incredible. Getting hammered and listening to Pink is officially the best thing ever.
and getting all stupidly excited on first listen.
but I ain't holding out too much hope. Amplifier Worship is a cool album but everything else is a bit average I reckon.
Could someone upload it perhaps?
I can reciprocate.
until I get home. If you still want it later on - PM me and I will use that uploading program thing so you can enjoy it aussi.
Wicked - i would love it later on, or whenever you get a chance.
Is this the Final one you mean? I would sure like that too.
Obviously I'm going to buy this album once it becomes available. But what other Boris metrial should I pick up? I already own Feedbacker, Pink and the Merzbow colaboration. As a general rule I like it when they go all spacey and then obliterate the ambience with insane amounts of feedback and borderline cheesy riffs.
what I have heard, "At last - Feedbacker" and "Dronevil 1&2" are the best purely droney stuff, but there is also something called "The Thing Which Solomon Overlooked" which is the same kind of thing - very, very good all of it. They make such wonderful noise and some of the meanest but also most beautiful drones I have heard. They are my favourite band of the last few years.
"Soundtrack From The Film Mabuta No Ura" is a bit of everything. Although mainly it is subdued, contemplative strumming, it also has White Warmth, an actual ballad, and another; a bizare bongo 'n' sleigh-bell workout thing.
"Heavy Rocks" is one of my favourite albums and most like "Pink". Some of the best tracks the band has done, and again lots of drone as well as the all out attack rock tracks.
"Sun Baked Snow Cave" is a very slow burning, hour long build to a bit of a disappointing drone. Go for the others first.
The first record I heard was "Akuma No Uta" which is a short album that has a drone track or two and four or five almost Steve Vai hair metal widdly attack songs. Super.
Enjoy all of it. Buy as much as you can but, like me, don't feel too bad about Soulseeking the rest - a lot of this stuff simply isn't available except on expensive imports. There is tons more than what I have said above but these are the major releases, I think.
