I CAN'T STAND that man's voice
EVERY freakin song sounds the same?
for the first few albums, so all the guitars sounded the same on almost every track.
They've just tailed off as the years have gone on. Still not a bad band to go and watch, but if you've seen them twice, that's enough...
the second one is better in a faux-goth-weepy kinda way.
but they just kept repeating themselves afterwards.
brian molko's lyrics are usually terrible.
But they had some very good songs a long time ago...
got some great music, but yeah, his voice is somewhere way, way beyond grating. Doesn't quite make me homicidal like, say, Dolores O'Riordan or Nelly Furtardo, but I'd still like to punch the little shit.
and I forgot: The lyrics.
Don't get me started on the fucking lyrics...
Normally I'd be able to ignore a band like Placebo, but every time I hear them, it just makes me remember the time I saw Brian Molko at Reading. He was right in front of me and I for a moment I seriously considered just Zidane-ing him right there and then. But to my eternal shame, I never went through with it. Possibly down to the two of goons he had with him, who subsequently ejected me from the area.
you dont care about us
what a single.
also the version of without you i'm nothing with bowie is immense.
of 'bruise pristine' was ace !
They're one of these bands that I still seem to like, even though they're blatantly gone downhill of recent times.
I still maintain that "Without You I'm Nothing" is one of my favourite albums ever - quite an unpopular statement to make, but it just flows so well, and recall some happy childhood memories when I listen to it nowadays.
I will probaby buy "Meds" at some point, just because it's Placebo.
Strange, I know..
"Black Market Music" is an awful album, though.
I don't own ano of their music, but there are definitely worse bands than Placebo. I like a couple of tunes here and there.
It is the voice. I make a lot of allowances in the vocal department, but man, sometimes it's more than I can handle. Hell, I would love the Smashing Pumpkins if it weren't for Billy Corgan's voice...
Is still one of my 90's faviroutes. The rest are mediocre.
my silver rock-a-het?
Molko's recorded a song with Björk for a film soundtrack?
this could be terrifically awful. i'm scared.
