Beyonace - Crazy In Love.
Who'd have thought?
to liking that one.
was 'Freak Like Me' by Sugababes.
i'm sticking with it...for now.
great stuff indeed.
Shame on you...
Apartment - everyone think I'm paranoid.
Will change in a minute...
did you get the followup? patience is proving? wasn't that good. at all. and now they're apparently releasing their album by themselves, so i think the badness of that single may have scuppered their chance for success any time soon.
but still very good.
And they were great live !
Album might be very good but as for success...
White Stripes. Perfect from every angle. Study it for a hundred years and you will find no flaw.
greatest opener ever!
Lose Yourself (I Mean it!)
Are you mad?
Since 2000 I would go with The Rat by The Walkmen. Last ten years probably Paranoid Android by Radiohead.
last 10 years. Windowlicker was released in the late 90's.
"a little bit of luck"
Astronaut - Just Can't Take It
the perfect 7" single.
on a more serious note:
the delgados - no danger.
"Is This Love"
no contest. Closely followed by 'Accelerator' by Primal Scream.
um... isn't that a bit of a contradiction?
Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches
Losing My Edge by LCD Soundsystem
Are my two favourites.
you know this to be true.
This is the Day - The The
What A Waster/I Get Along by The Libertines
They truly were one of the most exciting bands around for a few months, this was their first and best single.
whilst still being 'great' - Bittersweat Symphony.
This thread is hard work.. are we talking tracks that are actually released as a single...??
1996 onwards.. hmmm... it's fucking imposssible... FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE.
Toxic by Britney Spears
it really is quite perfect
should probably be filed under best thing ever anyway.
hot chip - over and over (althought time may tell on that)
lowgold - beauty dies young (aided by can't say no on the re-release)
rollicking pop song.
Best single of the last 10 years?!
Or Free As A Bird... I think that was 96 too.
is also pretty amazing.
Can't Stand Me Now
that second album was shite really, as was that song. bit naff, but dont look back into the sun has passion, killer melody, energy. increible song.
Can't Stand Me Now was fucking ace though. It had passion, melody and energy, and without sounding like a dickhead critic, romance.
The second album gets more shit than it deserves, because UTB was so good. It is terribly disappointing, but its got some scorchers on, including Can't Stand Me Now.
Beyonce - Crazy In Love
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
The Silver Jews - Send In The Clouds
The Fall - Theme From Sparta FC
White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
Low - Dinosaur Act
Bis - Kandy Pop
just off hand. This is impossible. More will come to me.
Last Nite - The Strokes
Outtathaway by The Vines is better, surely
what you waiting for?
i'll bust your giblets.
apologise for suggesting Kandy Pop may be the Greatest Singles of the last ten years. I need to go to bed. I have been sniffing glue. There was a loss in the family today.
Delete as appropriate.
The others stand up though.
so there's no need to apologise at all. Although, if I may be so bold, 'This Is Fake DIY' was waaaay better than 'Kandy Pop'. ;-)
off the proper album were better.
i liked Yeah the most. Crass version.
cause like whatever yeah, i get your point.
stop repeating yourself!
you remind me of natural born killers.
We dig repetition
We dig repetition
We dig repetition in the music
And we're never going to lose it.
All you daughters and sons
who are sick of fancy music
We dig repetition
Repetition in the drums
and we're never going to lose it.
This is the three R's
The three R's:
Repetition, Repetition, Repetition
Bittersweet Symphony - I loved it before I got into double figures...
Oasis - Don't look back in anger - i hate Oasis, but love this
Avalanches - Frontier Pychiatrist - Amazing.
Miss Black America - Dot Dot Dot - brilliant, got me into them.
iLiKETRAiNS - Terra Nova - probably the greatest post-rock single ever.
but often i can';t even DANCE TO IT.
SO NO. i don't really enjoy that man,.
Do you have to dance to something to enjoy it then?
How can you not dance to LCD Soundsystem?
i hate the argument "it's so repetitive" as if that's automatically a bad thing. It's only bad when the thing that's being repeated in the first place is shite, so the statement seems irrelevant.
and I think Kylie Minogue - Can't Get You Out of My Head has to be right up near the top.
The Rat - Just a great single.
I will research my 'Singles Of The Year' lists I made until '99 when I get home. Then I will abandon them, and realise the Shed Seven should never have been awarded that title, and I was a fool.
I honestly don't know though. Currently, with my crush for Pete Doherty still rising to the surface, I want to say something off the first album.
Time For Heroes.
