go on then!!!
But I was inspired by a Clare Grogan mention below
Gotta be "Dead Pop Stars" Altered Images.
By this thread I mean a recording that is way better than that that is recorded as an official release, or not at all.
i especially like it when John adds his impression of a screaming fox on the end :)
all of their peel session songs
particularly AOD, play.nice.kids. , and fix the sky a little
Big Black - Newmangenerator
Head of David - Jack Nicholson
Ahh shit, just one you say? No chance.
but the session version of Love Will Tear Us Apart knocks spots off the studio version.
that broke the record for the consecutive number of Fuck's on radio 1, hee hee!
You Suffer with the reverb at the end that's longer than the song.
Don't delete my frog
Cud "You Sexy Thing".
Pavement - Circa 1762
i'm going to pretend you didn't ask that in case i start losing sleep.
i lobe grover_elliot though for saying 'Don't Delete My Frog'. That entire session is astoundingly good.
uhm Electralane's version of 'More Than This'.
And The Fall doing 'Groovin' With Mr Blo/Green Eyed Loco Man'.
Uhm, and i think i prefer the sesion versions of 'Minerals Made Me' and 'Come Around' by Bearsuit than the studio version.
And Hyper Kinako as above.
is this near legendary hyperkinako session up anywhere...?
oh one of the best sessions ever was the ecstasy of st theresa sesh in 93/94 I think, they were one of the best shoegazing bands ever, a bit like mum and mogwai. they're still going but are more trip-hoppy now, still good.
to the version on Closer.
also, sonic youth's session cover of Victoria is hilarious
I'm going to cover that cover of the cover one day.
I suppose not sessions, but Lightning Bolt and Melt Banana's shows at Maida Vale are truely awesome.
There's 24 sessions of the Fall to choose from, far too much...
bang bang machine - geek love.
I can't pick just one song, but I think the Lift to Experience Peel session in untouchable.
did a cover of the Stooges - Loose on Peel Sessions. It was fucking awsome!
Whole session was really good, but the best Peel session song...
Water by PJ Harvey
Here by Pavement.
session, ill post it over the next half hour if anyones interested.
Hyper Kinako - frog (peel session)
so ill need to do em one at a time im afraid.
thank you so much :D
I forgot the last one
How do you download that?
from the session i thought they were gonna go off in a c86 felt style direction. when i heard the album version i was horrified.
This session was the last thing I really loved. BUT!! wasn't it a Mark Goodier programme session?
the delgados cover of mr blue sky yet?
cinerama's version of 'all the things she said' was brilliant.
and i still have tapes of miss black america sessions. the first one i played to DEATH.
im sure theres many more though...
the undertones - here comes the summer, just for the outro "mikey what does incoherently mean?" I've got a great tape of early 80's session tracks like the damned ('eat your heart out john peel'), culture, billy bragg doing that new england song, the birthday party, young marble giants (brilliant track, I was always put off because kurt cobain liked them), and, er, others...
then up the top of the page they ask you to put the coloured letter code in, then wait 45 seconds (the bastards, THEn it provides you with the right click>save as link.
many thanks for uploading them again!!!
and thank you Grover :)
Galaxie 500 - 'Submission'
Crown of Creation - Ride
Peel Session = heavenly bliss
Album version = boring 3rd rate "rock 'n' roll"
white stripes - jack teh ripper/astro
