not that bothered to be honest
I think it's like a bonding exercise with my dad he is a lot more excited then I am. Still I guess it's one of those things you can say in 20 years or something "I've seen the Who."
"i hope no one has a go at me, but i actually like a few songs.. THEY'RE STILL PERVERTS THOUGH LOL"
every response will fall into one of these categories.
also, it is 'shout and shimmy'
and looking forward to it for exactly the same reason as I looked forward to seeing Pixies in the same place 2 years ago. During Pixies I came close to crying through hearing songs I loved performed live by a band I thought I'd missed my chances in life to see. Looking forward to The Who, don't think I'll cry, not the same with the original killer rhythm section no longer with us but still have some truly great songs and one of the best guitarists this country has produced, one of the best rhythm guitarists in the world imho.
And Pulp. And Neil Young! But the Who should be good free beer and all if I go with father figure. Cadd you recommend to Martbowski as you seem to quite like them where as I have little knowledge.
but I'll say The Who Sell Out/My Generation/Live At Leeds
and was happily surprised at how well their live sound has aged. Baba O'Riley was just as spritely DESPITE the 'teenage wasteland' themed lyrics, plus all the Tommy and Quadrophenia songs still had a glorious poppy feel. Hope it's a cracker...... must be said that both Townsend and Daltrey were clearly drinking cups of tea on stage, not a word of a lie..
I saw the Who before Entwistle died. It was an amazing show and it was when I was about 19 and was wearing a suit and parka (*blushes*). Great band, great songs, shame Daltrey loves fox-hunting and Townshend loves... well anyway -not too fussed about seeing them again now that it's just he and Townshend. Entwhistles bass-playing was worth the entrance fee alone!
Who should be alright, but Townsends once horrible voice (at its sixties peak) has been totally shot and unlistenable since about 1978...
Wouldn't like to be in your shoes when he steps up to the fackin microphone!
