covered by Astrid Williamson is so much better than by Snow Patrol...
I think it's got more energy, pace and (I'm so gonna get slaughtered for saying this!) emotion to it.
This (by which I mean Astrid Williamson's version) is decent enough but it feels a bit too laboured for me to prefer it to the original.
...or maybe he manages to sing in character. I'm aware it's not about anyone in particular but there is a certain desperation in his voice (unless he's just straining to hit the notes?)
I guess my view on "Run" is prejudiced 'cos I've always had a soft spot for Snow Patrol. (I used to get abuse at school - from the same people who buy Snow Patrol records now! - for sticking "Starfigther Pilot" off their first album onto the sixth-form stero.)
But I've always felt "Run" works quite well in an epic 'you and me against the world' ballad kind of way and I don't really think Snow Patrol's flaw is that there's anything wrong with "Run", just that most of their newer material seems to follow along the exact same pattern.
and I like the original version.
Still I'm much more touched by Astrid Williamson's cover.
I should say that I did enjoy her cover. Didn't listen to any of her other songs but may come back adn do that later.
Since you've seen her myspace page, what do you think of the music ?
But it's not bad.
you don't like this version...
not just the arrangememt and the performance - has anyone seen lightbody do his solo acoustic version? one of the most horrible, cringeworthy things ever.
and i dont have sound on my internet
